Role purpose
The IT Director, Digital Trading Solutions is the end-to-end technology owner for the business relationship and overall company's commodity trading platforms. This leader will define and execute the strategy to modernize and sustain our trading technology, including driving the transformation from proprietary platforms to industry solutions. The position operates with a high degree of independence, owning the vision and roadmap for the trading technology portfolio and delivering a large-scale transformational programs.
Key Experience & Responsibilities
- Strong understanding of commodity trading, risk management, and financial operations.
- Excellent client-facing communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to leadership, non-technical and technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience working with commodity markets such as energy, natural gas, power, and renewable energy, with a focus on trading and risk processes.
- Solid experience in leading and executing the transformational programs in commodity trading, including transaction capture, risk management, accounting, and reporting.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues related to system performance and business processes.
- Ability to build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional team of product managers, analysts, and developers; cultivate strong business-user relationships.
- Knowledge of commodity trading regulations such as FERC, NERC, and CFTC compliance.
- Familiarity with renewable energy markets, including experience with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Renewable Energy Credits (RECs),etc.
- Experience with ETRM/CTRM Ion OpenLink/Endur, RightAngle, Allegro, etc.
- Experience leading large business aligned technology teams.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of the key aspects of operating both project and ongoing support organizations.
- Ability to drive benefits realization, cost control, and value delivery from programs and initiatives.
- Manage key vendors, including governance, contract management, SLAs, and roadmap alignment.
- Partner with trading, risk, accounting and compliance to translate business needs into executable technology plans.
Job Overview
This position establishes strategy, develops business plans, and oversees and directs the design, development, and implementation of technology solutions to meet business needs. Leaders in this role provide leadership and oversight to manage performance and results in one or more Information Technology (IT) disciplines. Individuals will be accountable for the reliability, performance, security, and continuity of IT systems and supported business processes.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, influence, vision, roadmap, and direction to the organization to contribute to achieving the company's goals
- Works with IT leaders to develop overall IT strategy in alignment with business strategy
- Oversees the value stream by focusing on cost and risks of technology portfolio to meet business needs
- Supports and fosters innovative technologies to deliver new ideas that enable business transformation
- Ensures high levels of ongoing system and application performance in production environments
- Oversees the development of processes and tools to automate code releases from development to operations (DevOps)
- Establishes and drives technology roadmaps that align with current and future business needs
- Manages third party technical and outsourcing relationships to deliver project and operational support objectives
- Ensures technology processes are conducted in line with applicable standards and company policies
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Grad / GED
- Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
- Experience: 10+ years
- Supervisor/Management Experience: 5+ years
