Job Description
The Digital Engineering Technology Lead role is part of Axpo's initiative to build a high-impact team in Madrid, focusing on digital engineering solutions for energy infrastructure. The position aims to drive innovation in BIM (Building Information Modeling) and Digital Twin technologies, supporting Axpo's renewable energy projects. The role is pivotal in bridging business needs, architectural standards, and delivery outcomes, ensuring scalable and high-quality solutions. It involves leadership in decision-making, vendor management, and technical delivery, with a focus on cutting-edge digital workflows and measurable results.
Responsibilities
The role emphasizes leadership in digital engineering, bridging business needs with technology delivery. Key tasks include:
- Owning Axpo's digital engineering application vision and roadmap
- Leading Make-or-Buy decisions on technology and securing stakeholder buy-in
- Turning business needs into measurable requirements and outcomes
- Defining target architecture, integration tests, standards, and security baselines
- Conducting vendor scouting, RFIs/RFPs, and technical due diligence
- Overseeing delivery to completion, including risk tracking and operational handovers
- Coaching team members and standardizing processes and practices
- Championing modern workflows (Digital Twin, automated data, CI/CD)
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
- A background in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in product/technology roles bridging business and engineering.
- 5+ years of software development experience, preferably as a Full-Stack developer with expertise in Angular, Python (Fast-API), and cloud platforms.
- Strong knowledge of architecture, APIs, data flows, and security/compliance.
- Skills in vendor management, evaluation frameworks, and SLA design.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Fluency in English (German is a plus).
- Experience in energy/infrastructure, BIM, and Digital Twin applications is advantageous.
