Job Description
With plans to see SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the ScottishPower Group, look to invest over £5bn in Transmission projects across our Transmission network in Central and Southern Scotland by 2030, the Strategic Project team will play a key role in supporting SPEN to work at pace to deliver the Transmission network that is required to support ambitions Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.
SPEN are currently recruiting a BIM Coordinator to enable the business and strategic projects to implement BIM processes and technologies for the design and construction of SP Transmission's (SPT) infrastructure.
As BIM Coordinator, you will work closely with the BIM Manager to help drive the implementation of processes and technologies through the life cycle of projects, ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO 19650 and internal and external procedures. This will enable SPT and our delivery team to exchange information accurately and securely, utilising common data environment and cloud technologies.
Responsibilities
As a BIM Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with BIM Managers, assisting on multiple core projects and championing our internal BIM procedures and central processes. You will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of BIM and Digital Design practices, driving continual improvement and pushing boundaries to make a tangible difference in the success of our projects, ensuring high-quality standards are met and exceeded.
You will assist project teams to meet client, business and industry requirements, working closely with the BIM Manager to manage and coordinate BIM standards, develop, implement and enforce ISO 19650 standards and protocols on projects.
Feeding into and helping to maintain project facing BIM documentation, workflows from organisational templates and workflow processes to ensure consistency and compliance, you will provide support to project teams on software and tools, including Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) modules.
Assisting in BIM project setup and coordination with our internal delivery teams to ensure proper implementation, you will be responsible for reviewing BIM model data for conformance with SPEN requirements.
Participating in BIM meetings along with BIM Manager, leading appointed parties to resolve issues and streamline processes, you will support BIM Managers on managing various tasks on multiple projects within the strategic portfolio.
You will be required to conduct regular site visits to support Lead Appointed Parties, ensuring smooth execution of design intent whilst providing on-site assistance to the project team for model coordination, design validation and identification of potential blockers on design-related issues during construction.
What you'll bring
Possessing a recognised qualification in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management or a related field, you will have experience in a Design, Digital or BIM-related role within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry.
Being familiar with BIM standards, particularly ISO 19650, you will demonstrate your experience with Model validation and Data validation, including knowledge of digital tools such as Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Solibri, Revizto, or similar.
Knowledge of COBie (Construction-Operations Building information exchange) and IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) data formats would be beneficial.
You will be comfortable working within a common data environments (CDEs) such as Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Familiar with BIM project documents such as BEP, MIDP is required.
