Job Description

Vestas Japan are looking for enthusiastic Site Supervisor for Akita site.

Our focus is to provide our clients with high quality global service standards for the best possible production output of their wind turbines. With our long-standing excellent track record and service experience globally, we work to ensure that we manage our clients' windfarms effectively to get the most out of each wind turbine performance while upholding to our commitment to adhere to local and global safety standards.

Your work and training location during the first 18 months of the commencement of this agreement will be based on a rotational Off Shore / on-off shift basis. Performing scheduled work and training assignments domestically and overseas in challenging working / training environments is required. Your standard work location assignment after completing your training period will be at the - Offshore Katagami, Akita Prefecture; O&M site working under rotational shifts and direct supervision of the Site Manager and Service Manager.

Responsibilities

Be responsible for organizing, planning and preparing all offshore daily activities and ensuring smooth and safe operations of the activities and overall performance of the offshore wind farm. You will be leading teams of technicians and wind turbine specialists on a shift rotation to execute operational and maintenance, scheduled service, JEAG statutory inspections, unscheduled services - technical troubleshooting, implementing upgrades and supporting Special Projects main component repair and exchange campaigns.

Your main tasks will be to:

  • Manage and coordinate onshore O&M site activities and offshore wind turbine service operations.
  • Monitor wind turbines conditions remotely on SCADA, following Condition Monitoring Systems closely.
  • Plan service tasks daily, issue and review Work Package Documents and ensure each team understands the work scope and relevant risks assessments are legated.
  • Confirm availability of tools, materials, spare parts to be utilized daily.
  • Perform daily Tool Box Talk with service teams and Employer Operations and Marine Teams.
  • Ensure service technicians complete service reports, time sheets, material consumption timely to ensure service orders closed timely.
  • Provide technicians offshore technical support during scheduled service and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare vessel Sail Out Transfer Plans and align offshore transfers with Employer marine Team.
  • Monitor rolling weather forecasts daily basis and evaluate high wind, high waves, lightning risks.
  • Create service work orders in SAP and update Planning trackers daily.
  • Perform Daily Customer meetings relating to Operational conditions and readiness of each wind turbine. Submit Daily Reports timely.
  • Maintain and update planning board daily together with Technical Planner.
  • Assist the implementation of new procedures / processes.
  • Approve hours of technicians.
  • Plan annual scheduled service, trouble shooting, unscheduled services, urgent work together with Technical planner.
  • Provide input to Monthly Customer Report.
  • Ensure implementation of upgrades and non-conformities are executed, properly reported and closed timely.
  • Support Site Manager and Service Manager to ensure contractual compliance and high customer satisfaction.
  • Comply with Vestas' Health and Safety Management Safe Way of Working.
  • Comply with Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) - Electrical Safety Rules (ENSR)
  • Manage closely and ensure all WTSR and ENSR safe ways of working are implemented for each task.
  • Ensure service technicians professional development training and qualifications are updated and service technicians skilled up and next level Panels by Authorized Engineer are requested.

Qualifications

  • Electrical or mechanical degree from a technical school / college / university
  • Or have equivalent experience as service technician / service engineer or service management.

Competencies

  • Speak and write English fluently. Business level Japanese speaking recommended. Have worked in a planning role.
  • You know how to manage general safety and safety awareness.
  • You are willing to travel to other sites when required.
  • You are a self-starter and possess good organisational and time management skills.
  • You are flexible, reliable, technically competent, and a team player, fully supporting Site manager and Service Manager.
  • Are comfortable with MS Office applications.
  • Have a full and valid driving license in Japan.
  • Are an excellent communicator (multi-site liaison required)
  • Can switch easily between tasks.
  • Are able to influence and lead others in a positive manner. Create (One)Team Vestas Spirit.
  • Are capable to support service technicians which have culturally diverse backgrounds, languages, and experiences to support their safe way of working and professional development.
