Job Description
As Product Owner within the Digital Planning, Culture & Practices (DPCP) team, you will have end-to-end ownership of a portfolio of AI-driven services and solutions-including both in-house developed products and externally sourced AI SaaS (Software as a Service) offerings. Your remit will cover areas such as AI Search, Video Automation, AI-enhanced analytics, and other AI-enabled business solutions that are central to ScottishPower's digital transformation.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the product work streams ensuring that a clear and robust structure is in place
- Define a compelling product strategy and vision.
- Ensure that all product strategies and associated activities are aligned with the Digital
- Planning, Culture & Practices and Digital Transformation overall strategic objectives
- Interpret user research, quantitative and qualitative data to make informed product decisions, distinguishing between user needs and user wants.
- Create product and service roadmaps, working closely with technical, business, and governance stakeholders-including IT, Architecture, and external SaaS vendors. Use product descriptions and iterative delivery plans to assign priorities and make informed decisions.
- Bring together views and input from a wide range of internal and external contributors, such as senior stakeholders, developers and user researchers, on the product vision, definition and delivery approach.
- Be responsible for the entire product management lifecycle.
- Keep abreast of user habits, preferences, and behaviours, and up-to-date with the latest technology.
- To be accountable for the digital budget for Product specific Projects. This includes ensuring that all business cases related to your product's initiatives, and the ownership and tracking of ROI is robustly maintained at all times.
What you'll bring
- Graduate or equivalent experience with a strong track record of delivering digital and AI enabled products or services, including both in-house and SaaS solutions
- A practitioner of Agile working methods
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently articulate the rationale for product and service decisions. Demonstrable track record of effective communication and negotiation internally and externally.
- Experience of product ownership/management in an agile delivery context e.g. defining product visions, roadmaps, backlogs
- Strong data interpretation skills and ability to set, manage and monitor service metrics and key performance indicators
- Strong track record of the successful delivery and management of high-quality AI solutions, including defining product visions, roadmaps, and managing product backlogs.

- Ability to work at both the strategic and tactical levels, from high-level vision, roadmap and service strategy to day-to-day delivery of individual features and stories.

- Confidence in challenging convention with strong abilities to influence cross-functional teams and build relationships

- External awareness - ability to absorb and use new ideas from outside ScottishPower
- Ability to prioritise work and deliver results whilst managing multiple stakeholders and competing demands within a rapidly changing environment
- Knowledge of the UK utilities industry and the relevance of digital and AI innovation is desirable, but not essential.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills
Minimum Criteria
- At least 3 years delivery experience within a commercial AI environment
- Educated to degree level, or relevant work experience
- Ability to prioritise and use initiative at appropriate level
