As we continue to expand and strengthen our focus on security, Volue Energy Software is looking for an optimisation scientist. As an optimisation scientist you will play a key role in building, maintaining and integrating optimisation solutions in Volue products. An Optimisation Scientist applies mathematical methods to decision problems and keeps up to date with the latest optimisation techniques, algorithms and solvers relevant for the products.
What you will be doing to make a difference
As an optimisation scientist, you will:
- Build and implement optimisation models in cooperation with internal or external clients and maintain them during their whole lifecycle
- Support clients, consultants, support and sales with detailed knowledge about the abilities and limitations of Volue's current portfolio of optimisation models
- Identify new application areas for optimisation in line with company strategy
- Stay up to date with latest development and research in field of mathematical optimisation, studies and software to realize value in the project, and shares them with team/organization
- Take part in training and education in optimisation, both internally and externally.
- Work within a development team, distributed across various locations and countries, including other software engineers, architects, UX designers, business- and system-analysts as part of an agile team
What you need to succeed
- MSc in software development, engineering, or a comparable qualification
- Preferrably holding a PhD in optimisation/operations research or AI
- Excellent knowledge of mathematical optimisation
- Good understanding of other relevant mathematics, like mathematical statistics, operations research and computer science
- Deep experience with optimisation modelling, linear, non-linear and integer programming
- Good software development and version control skills
- Experience with common IDEs and software development tools
- Knows at least one programming language well
- Be a team player and help others without losing focus for your own responsibilities
- Willing to learn modern technologies and gain knowledge of the business domain
- Good communication skills in English (written and spoken)
