The Role
Step into a career-defining opportunity as a Safety Advisor on Snowy 2.0 - one of Australia's most iconic projects. This dynamic, site-based role puts you at the heart of the action, where you'll champion safety excellence and drive a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Manager Safety - Snowy 2.0, you'll take the lead on audits, risk management, incident investigations, and behavioural safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure contractor safety measures meet project requirements and are implemented on site
- Review contractor safety documentation (e.g. safety plans, traffic management plans)
- Conduct regular site safety inspections with contractor reps
- Support and conduct desktop safety audits as per the Safety Activity Schedule
- Liaise with Snowy Hydro project team on safety compliance
- Manage safety hold points and coordinate between contractor and site team
- Review contractor safety reports and incident investigations
- Ensure corrective actions are identified, implemented, and shared
- Provide safety support to Snowy Hydro team and direct hire contractors
You'll Bring
Extensive experience in safety roles within civil construction, utilities, or related industries. With qualifications in Safety Management System Auditing and ICAM lead investigations, you have strong expertise in risk management, including fatality prevention and critical control program implementation. You're well-versed in NSW WHS legislation and bring highly developed influencing, negotiation, and communication skills. Proactive and detail-oriented, you adapt well to change, support others through transitions, and confidently identify issues, make informed decisions, and develop practical, innovative solutions.
