Job Description
RWE is a global provider of specialised energy solutions. RWE Renewables is responsible for RWE's industrial-scale renewable energy activities. We develop, build, and operate large renewable energy assets primarily in Europe and North America.
We are seeking a skilled, experienced Technician to assist in maintaining our Robin Rigg offshore wind farm. As part of a small team - of 12, you will travel by boat to carry out regular maintenance work on our offshore wind turbines.
This is a great opportunity for a capable, accomplished technician to get involved in renewables, one of our fastest-growing business areas. You'll not only open up a host of promotion opportunities in this crucial sector; but you will also work to deliver smarter, cleaner energy for the future.
Normal working hours will be 11 hours per day, working 7 days on/7 days off rotation, a shift disturbance allowance will be paid to accommodate this. Due to the working shifts, you must live within a 30-minute radius of Workington.
About the role
- To minimise faults and maximise our energy yield by carrying out proactive and reactive maintenance operations
- Servicing, inspections, modifications and retrofits
- Using SCADA and other computer systems to investigate our turbines, reset faults, and instigate maintenance work. These allow us to record the maintenance work carried out, as well as any turbine faults that occur
- This is a varied and often weather-dependent role, you must adopt a flexible approach to your working hours. You'll be on-call outside normal working hours and may be requested to travel to other sites as support
Job requirements and experience
- Experience in mechanical, electrical, power electronics, and hydraulic troubleshooting and maintenance activities
- Able to troubleshoot complex systems
- Ability to work effectively within a small team with minimal supervision
- A sound understanding of HSSE systems, to establish a safe work environment
- Good communication skills written and verbal
Advantageous but not essential
- An experienced slinger and banksman
- Experienced wind turbine technician, related to O&M or commissioning activities
- Experienced in High Voltage Equipment up to 33kV
- Qualified in First Aid at Work, Working at Heights / Tower Rescue, offshore survival & offshore medical
- In possession of a Full UK Driving Licence
Due to the nature of this role a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check will be required.
An offer of employment in this role may require holding active or ability to pass National Security vetting to SC level. Failure to obtain and or maintain National Security Vetting to SC may result in the removal of job offers and or existing employment.
