Responsibilities

Econergy is scaling its battery energy storage (BESS) portfolio across multiple markets and is looking for a Commercial Battery Offtake Lead to lead the commercialisation of battery assets across the full lifecycle. This role sits at the heart of Econergy's battery commercial strategy and is responsible for route-to-market design, optimiser selection, and negotiation of long-form offtake and optimisation agreements, ensuring contracts are robust, bankable, and fully aligned with asset performance and financing needs.

  • Lead battery route-to-market and optimiser processes across the portfolio
  • Structure commercial models (merchant, floor, tolling, hybrid)
  • Negotiate term sheets and long-form offtake / optimisation agreements, including revenue mechanisms, performance incentives, degradation treatment, availability, warranties, and lender protections
  • Manage legal processes with external counsel
  • Ensure full alignment between technical asset design, EPC inputs, warranties, and commercial structures
  • Support project and portfolio financing, working with lenders, advisors, and internal finance teams
  • Translate market forecasts into executable commercial structures and define KPIs and performance frameworks
  • Work closely with Energy Management to ensure clean handover and operational governance
  • Provide commercial input into early-stage development and system design decisions

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in power markets, energy trading, battery storage, or route-to-market
  • Proven experience negotiating and executing long-form offtake, tolling, or optimisation agreements
  • Strong understanding of battery commercialisation and multi-market revenue stacking

Highly Desirable

  • Experience closing BESS route-to-market contracts
  • Exposure to multiple European power markets
  • Experience supporting project or portfolio financing
  • Combined commercial and technical background in battery assets

Core Competencies

  • Senior-level commercial negotiation and counterparty management
  • Deep understanding of battery behaviour, degradation, and operational constraints
  • Strong knowledge of wholesale, intraday, balancing, and ancillary services markets
  • Ability to translate technical complexity into clear commercial and contractual structures
  • Excellent cross-functional stakeholder management
