Job Description

Your Tasks

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Project Manager for Primary Technologies. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all primary technical solutions are developed safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with quality standards. You will also ensure that all technical interfaces are fully defined and coordinated. Key deliverables include approved system and device specifications, quality-assured testing and acceptance documentation (including planning, FAT/SAT, and commissioning), all required interface and coordination documents, risk assessments with corresponding action tracking, and complete final technical documentation in accordance with applicable guidelines.

Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

Engineering and system design

  • Development and optimization of the AC/DC system design and the primary technical station layout
  • Selection, design, and specification of AC/DC high-voltage components, power converter technology, and associated cooling systems
  • Creation of technically robust solution concepts ready for approval

Technical review

  • Review, comment, and approval of technical documentation
  • Preparation of technical specifications and tender documents

Manufacturing, construction, and commissioning

  • Support for all primary technical project phases: planning, manufacturing, FAT, installation, and commissioning
  • Participation in FAT/SAT and construction-related tests
  • Monitoring of the implementation of technical requirements by manufacturers and contractors

Coordination and interface management

  • Control of primary technical interfaces to converters, AC switchgear, submarine cables/underground cables, protection /secondary technology, construction, and approvals
  • Coordination with internal departments and external contractors
  • Contribution of lessons learned and professional exchange with experts

Schedule, cost, and risk management

  • Technical consulting in schedule, cost, and risk controlling for the primary technical scope, cost and risk controlling for the primary technical scope.
  • Responsibility for delivery and service approvals, including milestone tracking and service approvals

Documentation and approvals

  • Document management in the DMS (review deadlines, versions, final documentation)
  • Support for relevant approval procedures (e.g., Federal Immission Control Act)
  • Handover of complete technical documentation to asset management and network operations

Requirements & Your Expertise

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in high and extra-high voltage technology
  • Successful project management in at least comparable projects (e.g., HVDC, AC/DC switchgear, converter stations).
  • Good knowledge of the energy industry framework conditions
  • Confident use of MS Office
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project or Primavera P6).
  • Language requirements: German B2, English B2
  • Class B driver's license
  • Safety pass (already held or obtainable at short notice)
  • Successful candidate must have eligibility to work in the EU, along with the outlined qualifications
