Job Description

The mission of the Energy & Resource Efficiency Sustainability Consultant is to advance the integration of sustainability principles across industrial and civil sectors. This vital role involves spearheading initiatives in energy efficiency, resource optimisation, and greenhouse gas management to drive measurable environmental benefits and support organisational decarbonisation goals. The consultant will leverage specialised knowledge in sustainability domains to deliver innovative solutions, align with regulatory frameworks, and foster collaborative engagement with multidisciplinary teams. By delivering expert technical insights and strategic guidance, the consultant contributes directly to our commitment to sustainable business innovation and lasting positive impact on global environmental challenges.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead comprehensive energy audits for both industrial and civil infrastructures, identifying inefficiencies and potential improvements;
  • Develop and manage detailed energy balance sheets using advanced Excel methodologies, ensuring accurate and actionable data interpretation;
  • Calculate and analyse energy consumption patterns and greenhouse gas emissions for diverse systems, applying industry best practices and emerging scientific methods;
  • Stay current on and apply knowledge of cutting-edge energy efficiency technologies such as variable frequency drives (VFDs), heat pumps, and high-efficiency motor systems to recommend tailored solutions;
  • Assist in the conceptualisation and formulation of decarbonisation strategies and actionable plans customized for various operational contexts;
  • Perform sizing and feasibility evaluations of power generation assets including cogeneration and photovoltaic systems to support sustainable energy deployment;
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to energy utilization and resource efficiency, facilitating continuous performance improvement;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant greenhouse gas (GHG) regulations, certification standards, and energy efficiency directives, contributing to the organisation's sustainability credentials;
  • Conduct thorough greenhouse gas inventories for corporate entities and products, enabling transparent carbon accounting;
  • Develop fundamental economic and financial models to underpin sustainability initiatives, including cost-benefit analyses and investment appraisals;
  • Review and evaluate energy supply contracts to ensure sustainable and cost-effective procurement strategies;
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 50001 energy management systems, enhancing operational energy performance continuously.

Cross-Functional and Support Activities

  • Prepare detailed technical reports, documenting methodologies, findings, and recommendations to support decision-making processes, consistent with senior consultants' guidance;
  • Execute complex calculations within energy and economic domains, interpreting results critically with initiative supported by mentorship;
  • Engage with internal teams and external stakeholders to collect data, validate assumptions, and communicate project progress effectively;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sustainability standards, emerging regulations, and global frameworks to ensure all work complies with best practices;

Education

  • Master's Degree;

  • We seek candidates with around 2 to 4 years of professional experience, ideally holding at least two years in sustainability-focused roles. A Master's or postgraduate qualification in Chemical or Electrical Engineering, complemented by an MBA or equivalent, is highly desirable;
  • Applicants should demonstrate strong analytical capabilities combined with proficient data management skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, is essential for handling technical data and crafting impactful presentations;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to articulate complex sustainability concepts clearly and to collaborate effectively across functions;
