ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer, Services to join our SCM team. Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Site Services, this role involves procurement and purchase order management, sourcing and negotiating in support of the Company goals.
This role is based out of our office in Sarnia, Ontario.
This is a full-time, office-based role with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office & 2 days at home). Preferred hours: 8am to 4:30pm EST.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Review and process purchase requests from internal stakeholders, prepare and issue service related purchase orders, and maintain accurate documentation on a daily basis.
- Manage and maintain all active PO's - ensuring timely updates, scope clarity, and efficient handling of changes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to enable seamless coordination across materials and services procurement.
- Handle invoice coding and resolve discrepancies, ensuring accurate and timely payment processing and continuity of operations.
- Expedite purchase orders to maintain continuity of supply, proactively addressing delays that may impact critical operations or service delivery.
- Identify and assess opportunities for cost savings and process improvements that enhance procurement efficiency across materials and services.
- Ensure strict adherence to company policies, processes, and work instructions in all procurement activities.
- Apply analytical skills to assess procurement needs, evaluate supplier performance, and propose innovative solutions that drive operational savings.
- Provide support to SCM team members as needed, contributing to the overall success of the department.
ABOUT YOU
- 5+ years of supply chain experience.
- Sound knowledge of sourcing requirements, practices, and cost-saving techniques.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers, with a team-oriented approach.
- Strong experience with SAP is preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
- High-level understanding of procurement documentation and compliance requirements.
- Fluent in French language, both oral and written, is an asset.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$68,000 - CAD$82,000 at the time of this posting. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and/or training. The top end of the range is reserved for individuals with exceptional, directly relevant expertise and a demonstrated history of strong performance within TransAlta. This range reflects base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits.
