The Role

Matrix Renewables is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Loan Compliance Manager to join our US Structured Finance team in Miami.

This role will be responsible for the ongoing monitoring and compliance management of a portfolio of renewable energy project finance and tax equity transactions in the United States, with exposure to corporate-level financings and international assets.

You will play a key role in safeguarding the financial integrity of our portfolio by ensuring full compliance with financing agreements, managing lender, tax equity stakeholder and investor relationships, and coordinating internal stakeholders across finance, development, asset management, legal, ESG, and operations.

This is a highly visible role within the finance organization, reporting to the Project Finance Director (US) and working in close coordination with the Loan Management function in Spain.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Monitor compliance with loan agreements, credit facilities, hedge management, tax equity structures, and corporate financings.
  • Track and report key financial and operational covenants (DSCR, reserve requirements, distributions, ITC insurance etc.) and post-closing conditions.
  • Review financial models and forecasts to ensure compliance and identify early risk signals.
  • Provide early notice of any potential breach concerns by thoroughly reading, understanding and following the financial documentation. Manage notices and remediation plans of any issues that may occur.
  • Prepare and coordinate periodic reporting packages for lenders, tax equity investors, and internal stakeholders. Communicate changes in budget, schedule, updates and/or potential issues arising on the projects with appropriate urgency.
  • Manage loan disbursement requests and procedures.
  • Coordinate internally on CFADS and advise on timing of Opex payments to ensure debt service and tax equity payments can be achieved on time and per agreements.
  • Monitor debt balances, repayments, letters of credit (LCs), and credit facility utilization and hedge documentation.
  • Monitor tax equity distributions, capital accounts, and monetization of ITC and PTC proceeds under the LLCA, MIPA, ECCA and TCTAs, and associated covenants.
  • Oversee waiver, consent, amendment, and restructuring processes when required.
  • Manage and track post-closing and post-waiver conditions.
  • Maintain day-to-day working relationships with banks, agents, tax equity investors, hedge providers, ITC buyers, minority investors and external advisors (appraisal, legal, technical, insurance, market consultants).
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Finance, Asset Management, Development, Legal, ESG, Operations, and Accounting) and external auditors to ensure timely delivery of information and compliance obligations.
  • Support internal operational and financial reporting and maintenance of data for existing projects (e.g., financial performance, outstanding debt, compliance with covenants, assessment of forecasts, etc.).
  • Provide structured feedback to senior management and shareholders on portfolio quality, trends, limits, risks, and performance.
  • Manage risks associated with debt and tax equity investments. Anticipate if current documentation cannot serve future financing needs.
  • Support the Loan Origination and Structured Finance teams in the execution of new financings.
  • Assist in financial model reviews and updates.
  • Participate in the negotiation and documentation of financing agreements from a compliance and portfolio management perspective.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in project finance, structured finance, portfolio management, or infrastructure investments.
  • Undergraduate degree, GPA will be requested
  • Strong exposure to renewable energy transactions (solar, BESS preferred).
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Project finance documentation
    • Covenant monitoring
    • Tax equity structures
    • Corporate debt instruments
  • Strong analytical skills; financial modeling experience highly desirable.
  • Experience managing lender and investor relationships.
  • Ability to identify risk early and escalate appropriately.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Proactive, hands-on, and commercially minded.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to interact confidently with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, international environment.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish a plus.
