Job Description

The SEC Delburn Wind Farm is Victoria's first publicly owned, utility-scale wind generation project, to be built to the south of the Latrobe Valley from early 2026.

Vestas is a key delivery partner on the Project and is now actively recruiting an HSE Lead.

As a Site HSE Lead, you will be part of the large construction team supporting the projects across Australia and New Zealand and managing the environmental aspects of the full EPC scope of our wind farms.

In the role of Site HSE Lead, you will play a crucial part in the large construction team that supports projects across Australia and New Zealand. Your responsibilities will include providing project governance and implementation for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and demonstrating visible leadership for Site Construction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and carry out HSE goals within the region of responsibility.
  • Lead the Project HSE Team in providing effective project HSE support.
  • Lead the Project HSE Team to facilitate compliance with statutory legislation for Workplace, Health, Safety and Environment (WHSE).
  • Coordinate and conduct workplace assurance tasks.
  • Provide project leadership team with Weekly/Monthly HSE reports.
  • Lead the Project Team in the implementation of project HSE documentation.
  • Develop and maintain a professional relationship with contractors, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the Project HSE Team to validate the work carried out complies with Vestas Health, Safety and Environment requirements by Vestas policies objectives and targets.
  • Develop and assist coordination for Project HSE Delivery plan and initiatives.
  • Lead the Project HSE Team to facilitate success for project HSE targets and objectives.
  • Disseminate HSE related information to project personnel.
  • Lead the Project HSE Team in the conduct and completion of internal & client audits and implementation of required actions.
  • Lead (serious) investigations.
  • Critical review of Contractor Investigation reports.
  • Undertake critical review of contractor investigations.
  • Lead the Project HSE Team in management of the Vestas IMS system e.g. information is maintained as current.
  • Represent Vestas as HSE Lead during third party audits.
  • Day to day management of onsite HSE team.

Qualification

  • HSE Diploma or above.
  • Minimum 5 years of leading a HSE team in a construction environment.
  • Minimum 6 years HSE/OHS/WHS experience including involvement in Occupational Health & Safety(e.g. part of a committee, OH&S representative).
  • Lead Auditor experience.
  • Lead Investigation (Tap Root or ICAM).
  • Experience in operating HSE Systems,i.e. IMS, I Auditor.
  • Understanding and implementation of HSE management systems and certification process (ISO9001, 14001, 18001, 45001, AS4801).
  • Wind industry experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Previous experience working within civil/electrical, construction or similar environments.

Competencies

  • Strong leadership competency for team management and development.
  • Strong in managing Contractor & Client relationships.
  • Experience in being project Representative with Safety Regulators.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills, with regard incident reporting & Project HSE Reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive and hands on approach toward role - involved and engaged.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others - team leader.
  • Well-organised and enthusiastic.
