Data Engineer (f/m/d)

Join Axpo Services EMEA S.L. as a Data Engineer and play a key role in the newly established G&D Digital & Data Team. This is your opportunity to work on impactful initiatives, develop modern data products, and contribute to the modernization of the G&D data landscape using the Axpo Group Data Platform (Databricks). What you will do

• Data Product Development:
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to understand data sources and requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of reusable G&D data products across multiple data domains.
  • Support the publication of trusted datasets for reporting, BI, and analytics.
  • Work closely with the Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect and other team members.
• Data Engineering:
  • Develop, test, and operate data pipelines on Databricks using Python (PySpark) and SQL.
  • Transform raw source data into curated, business-ready datasets based on agreed data models.
  • Support ingestion of data from ERP systems, business applications, and operational systems.
• Data Quality & Reliability:
  • Implement data quality rules, checks, and monitoring within Python-based data pipelines.
  • Document datasets, transformations, and assumptions.
  • Support incident analysis and continuous improvement of data pipelines.

What you bring & who you are

• Required qualifications:
  • Several years of experience in data engineering or a closely related technical role.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks or comparable data platforms.
  • Proficiency in Python for data engineering, including PySpark-based data pipelines.
  • Good knowledge of SQL and data transformation concepts.
  • Experience with Git-based version control (e.g., GitHub or similar).
  • Interest in building reusable, high-quality data products.
• Preferred qualifications:
  • Professional experience with Databricks in a productive environment.
  • Familiarity with Delta Lake and data modeling.
  • Basic experience consuming APIs (e.g., REST) as data sources.
  • Experience in the energy sector.
• Personal competencies:
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to coordinate across teams and work independently.
• Languages:
  • English (required).
  • German (a plus).
