About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Supervisor, Master Data and Planning to join our team and play a critical role in improving planning, data integrity and supporting the successful migration to SAP S/4HANA. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing master data quality, streamlining data processes, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. This position will also focus on maintaining and optimizing asset and maintenance data to drive operational efficiency and support strategic business decisions.

This position will also be accountable for work management process and support Seebe and Spray Supervisors managing operations and maintenance activities, medium term planning, and supporting strategic business decisions across the entire hydro fleet. It will also ensure alignment with schedule of capital work to ensure all consequential work is brought forward to Routine manager to review business needs and right scope is carried out inside of a 0-to-12-month time horizon in accordance with TransAlta's values, standards and work practices.

This is a full-time, safety sensitive position based out of our Seebe and Spray sites in the Bow Valley Region. The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment testing.

A Day in the Life

Specifics for Work Management

  • Ensure accurate data for work orders, assets, and projects to support effective work management.
  • Support Operations Supervisors in prioritizing daily activities and provide strategic planning leadership.
  • Manage weekly maintenance planning, scheduling and execution within a 12-month horizon.
  • Engage and oversee contractors and service providers.
  • Coordinate with Capital Projects to align scope and scheduling.
  • Identify and report operational risks and opportunities.
  • Support development of strategies to meet maintenance KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with TransAlta's EHS and regulatory standards.

Master Data Management

  • Oversee creation and maintenance of master data (Functional Locations, Equipment, Work Centers, Maintenance Plans, Notifications) in SAP.
  • Implement data governance best practices to ensure consistency and integrity.

SAP Data Migration & Integration

  • Conduct data profiling, cleansing, and validation for migration from legacy systems (e.g., Maximo, SAP ECC) to SAP S/4HANA.
  • Maintain mapping documents and conversion specifications; support migration using SAP LTMC and related tools.

Process Optimization

  • Streamline maintenance and asset management processes to improve data flow and reporting.
  • Align practices with SAP's Phase-Based Maintenance framework.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with Maintenance, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain to understand data needs and resolve issues.
  • Provide training and support on master data and work management processes and standards.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain reports to support decision-making and compliance.
  • Monitor data quality and implement controls to uphold accuracy.

About You

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on SAP experience, with a strong focus on backend Work Management and Master Data Management. Proven expertise in managing Customer, Vendor, Business Partner, and Material master data within SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA is essential.
  • Experienced Scheduling work in SAP and ability to work in fast work environment.
  • Business process awareness in the respective areas of experience.
  • Very good understanding of technical requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience in data replication across SAP and non-SAP systems (Idocs, Web Services, replication models etc.)
  • Experience in data migration.
  • Ability to coordinate various tasks involving several different support teams.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Fluent English.
  • Fast learner, pro-active attitude and excellent teammate.
  • Demonstrated capability to drive continuous improvement.
