ABOUT THE ROLE

TransAlta is seeking a highly skilled Manager, Western Canada Wind to support the operation of our Western Canadian wind portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of these assets.

This role places a strong emphasis on maintenance leadership, ensuring disciplined work execution and alignment between maintenance strategy and day to day delivery.

Reporting to the Director, Wind and Solar Operations, the Manager leads site supervisors and frontline teams and is accountable for safety, maintenance performance, and business outcomes across the portfolio.

This is a full-time, safety sensitive position based out of Pincher Creek, Alberta. The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment testing.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Champion a strong safety culture across all wind maintenance and operational activities
  • Lead execution of daily, monthly, and annual operations and maintenance plans for wind assets
  • Drive excellence in work maintenance management, including work identification, planning, scheduling, and backlog control
  • Ensure maintenance strategies support asset reliability, availability, and lifecycle performance
  • Partner with engineering, supply chain, and project teams to align maintenance activities with asset condition and capital programs
  • Provide leadership and coaching to site supervisors, strengthening maintenance planning and execution capability
  • Accountable for plant availability, maintenance cost control, and budget performance
  • Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and a rolling three-year wind maintenance business plan
  • Identify and mitigate maintenance related risks while delivering continuous improvement in performance
  • Ensure consistent application of TransAlta operating and maintenance standards across the Western Canada portfolio
