Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of advanced BESS solutions. Your expertise in mechanical engineering and lithium-ion battery technology will be instrumental in driving our projects to success.
The Role
- Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 per year
- Location: In-person, Moment Energy Coquitlam Office

Responsibilities and Duties
- Drive mechanical design and development of BESS components and systems, including battery enclosures, thermal management systems, and structural components.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers and software developers to integrate mechanical systems into the overall BESS architecture.
- Play a strategic role in defining and implementing the overall mechanical design strategy for projects.
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and onboarding of new suppliers to optimize product cost, function and lead times.
- Drive creation and revision of FMEA, BOM, manufacturing and assembly drawings.
- Create SOPs, design review presentations, design journals and quality documentation.
- Provide leadership within the mechanical engineering team, guiding and mentoring junior engineers and co-op students.
- Support overall architecture design decisions based on external client requirements.
- Mechanical design and documentation to support UL product certification.
The Candidate
We're looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in the design and development of mechanical systems, with a focus on BESS or lithium-ion battery applications.
- Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software and FEA analysis for mechanical design of battery modules, enclosures, and other mechanical components.
- Demonstrated advanced understanding of lithium-ion battery technology, thermal runaway, cell characteristics, and battery pack design considerations
- Demonstrated understanding of UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NPFA 68 and 69 standards.
