ecoLong is a rapidly growing climate-tech startup focused on making buildings smarter, more efficient, and more grid-responsive. We partner with utilities, government agencies, and community organizations to deploy intelligent building controls, energy affordability solutions, and distributed energy resource (DER) technologies.

We're looking for a motivated Software Engineer who is excited to join our team supporting our continued growth and innovation to modernizing how buildings, distributed energy resources (DERs), and communities use and manage energy. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving, learning new technologies quickly, and building production ready systems that improves resilience, affordability, and sustainability in real communities - today.

Objective

As a Software Engineer you will be an integral part of our team, working closely with senior engineers and product leads to implement features, support integrations, and help deliver polished functionality of ecoLong's energy management and virtual power plant platforms such as: energy trading and optimization, cybersecurity, among others.

Primary Responsibilities for the role (including, but not limited to)

  • Build backend and frontend services and APIs
  • Support data pipelines and analytics toolings
  • Work with product and engineering teams ship features fast
  • Contribute to real-world, field deployments

Ideal candidates will possess the following

  • B.S.,/M.S., in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 1-2 years of software development or building controls experience
  • Proficiency in at least one modern languages (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, etc.)
  • Familiar with REST APIs, Git, Docker, and/or Kubernetes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Curious, fast learner, and ready to solve real energy problems
  • Bonus: experience with smart building systems, BACnet/Modbus, DERs or distributed systems

Salary and Benefits

Commensurate with experience and location, annual base salary ranging from $70,000 to $85,000. Benefits include flexible, partially employer-funded health insurance, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, and flexible work arrangements.
