The project will deliver a new high-capacity transmission line connecting Victoria and New South Wales, strengthening the grid, improving energy reliability and enabling more renewable energy to enter the market. Led by Transgrid in partnership with energy agencies and stakeholders, VNI West will support Australia's transition to net zero by increasing network capacity, improving system resilience and helping deliver affordable and sustainable energy to communities across the east coast. Position will be based in Sydney, NSW.

About the role

The Substation Design Manager plays a key role in delivering the VNI West Major Project, leading the coordination and delivery of high voltage substation and transmission line design activities. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role ensures designs meet Transgrid standards, regulatory requirements and project delivery objectives while supporting safe, reliable and cost effective infrastructure outcomes. You will work closely with engineering teams, project delivery partners and external design providers to deliver high quality design solutions in line with project timelines.
