Beyond Fossil Fuels is a network of civil society groups working toward a fossil-free, renewables-based European power system that benefits both the climate and people. It is a non-profit organisation with an office in Berlin, with staff spread across Europe.

We are recruiting an Energy Campaigner whose role is to support BFF’s multi-country campaign, with a special emphasis on Poland.

  • Position: Energy Campaigner in Poland
  • Preferable start date: 01 June 2026
  • Application deadline: 17 April 2026
  • Employment type: Full-time, One-year Staff Contract with probation period
  • Salary: €33,000 – €37,000 (140,850PLN -157,930PLN) gross per year, depending on experience
  • Location: Anywhere in Poland

Please note that we are unable to provide relocation support, either within or outside Europe.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop winning strategies for Poland linked to BFF’s European campaign (60%). This includes:
    • Supporting the needs and priorities of BFF member organisations and allies in Poland, and integrating those priorities into European strategies;
    • Coordinating activities with Polish BFF member organisations on communications, advocacy and campaign pushes. This includes press releases and media pitching;
    • Connecting Polish and European experts of the BFF network on the policy and politics of the energy transition in Poland, especially on energy market design, grids, clean flexibility and fossil fuels;
    • Supporting and advancing work on just transition for coal regions as well as fossil gas expansion.
  • Support BFF’s coal campaign (40%) by:
    • Coordinating, in collaboration with members, the implementation of BFF’s coal campaign priorities across Europe, including just transition for coal regions;
    • Working with the BFF data and comms teams to keep the BFF’s coal exit data tool updated and relevant. Be the campaign point person for the data team on coal plants;
    • Leading on promoting wins in the coal phase-out campaign, including key developments such as power plant and mine closures, and national phase-out key moments;
    • Contributing to BFF’s strategy processes and annual planning.

Required skills & experience

  • At least five years of experience working in the field of energy, climate and just transition;
  • Fluent in spoken and written Polish and English;
  • At least three years of experience in developing campaign strategies for civil society organisations and running campaigns;
  • Expertise and thorough understanding of the policy, dynamics and politics of the energy transition in Poland;
  • Solid understanding of the European coal sector;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, competency at facilitating and supporting the work of others, and the ability to build common cause and reach agreements among multi-organisational teams;
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, comprehensibly and concisely, and spokesperson experience;
  • Proficiency in using Google productivity tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, etc.);
  • Highly organised and capable of balancing multiple priorities;
  • Confident working remotely with a broad range of people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds;
  • Passionate about promoting a healthy, environmentally friendly, and fair society.

Desirable skill & experience

  • Some knowledge of European energy markets and power grids.
