We are seeking a highly motivated Manager of Market Development to market our product portfolio and support the growth of our Commercial & Industrial (C&I) distributed energy solutions, with an initial focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) supporting Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role responsible for helping translate our solutions into clear, compelling value propositions for end users, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and investors.
The role blends business development, product management, digital marketing, market research, solution selling, and commercial storytelling to accelerate adoption of distributed energy and VPP solutions. The ideal candidate is energetic, curious, and comfortable engaging directly with customers in the field, whether at a trade show, customer facility, or industry event. This individual will work closely with the sales team and commercial leadership to develop messaging, generate demand, and bring market insights back into the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities
Market Development & Customer Engagement
- Engage directly with C&I energy users, IPPs, developers, and investors to introduce and explain distributed energy and BESS solutions.
- Attend and actively participate in industry conferences, trade shows, and market events to identify opportunities and build relationships.
- Initiate conversations with prospective customers and partners to understand their energy needs, operational constraints, and economic drivers.
- Gather customer data-including energy usage information and utility bill data-to support opportunity qualification and solution development.
- Visit customer sites to understand operational realities and energy usage patterns.
Product Management
- Re the value proposition for C&I distributed energy and BESS/VPP solutions based on market needs and competitive dynamics.
- Translate market and customer insights into product requirements, helping guide how solutions are packaged, priced, and positioned.
- Develop product messaging and sales enablement materials that clearly communicate technical capabilities as business value.
- Analyze market trends, customer decision drivers, and procurement models to inform product strategy and portfolio priorities.
- Act as the voice of the customer internally, ensuring feedback from the field influences product development and solution design.
Market Research & Insight Generation
- Conduct deep market research into how distributed energy and VPP solutions are being procured, financed, and deployed in target markets.
- Identify customer pain points, decision drivers, and competitive dynamics within the C&I distributed energy market.
- Provide regular feedback to leadership and sales teams on market trends, customer needs, and messaging effectiveness.
Commercial Messaging & Content Development
- Help translate technical solutions into clear, compelling value propositions for non-technical audiences.
- Use AI and systems to communicate to current and potential customers.
- Develop and maintain sales presentations, collateral materials, and customer-facing content.

Qualifications
Required
- 4-8+ years of experience in business development, product management, market development, energy markets, or commercial strategy.
- Strong interest in distributed energy, battery storage, virtual power plants, or energy transition solutions.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to start conversations, build rapport quickly, and engage new contacts.
- Comfortable attending industry events and proactively approaching prospective customers and partners.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value.
- Experience developing presentations, outreach materials, or customer communications
- Willingness to travel regularly for trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events.

Compensation & Benefits
CS Power Systems offers a competitive salary plus fully comprehensive benefits and performance bonus package based on an annual objective achievement. Our generous benefits package includes a 401(k) Retirement Plan, medical/dental/life/disability program, PTO and sick days.
The pay range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 USD per year. This range represents annual base salary only, without regard to location, and does not include bonus or other incentives or benefits that may apply. The pay range for this role is subject to change.
