Our Delivery division is executing a multi-billion dollar capital program spanning transmission lines, substations, renewable energy zones and interconnectors across NSW and the ACT. These are complex, long-duration infrastructure projects that demand commercially sharp, delivery-focused leadership.

We're looking for a Senior Contract Manager with deep experience across the full project delivery lifecycle - from upstream strategy through to downstream execution and close-out. This is a high-impact leadership role where you'll drive commercial outcomes on projects valued between $500 million and $1 billion+.

What You'll Do

Upstream - Strategy, Procurement & Commercial Structuring

  • Lead the development of procurement and delivery strategies, commercial frameworks and contract models for major infrastructure projects.
  • Shape KPI structures, incentive/penalty mechanisms and risk-sharing arrangements that drive performance and protect Transgrid's commercial position.
  • Partner with the Procurement team to develop, negotiate and execute contracts with delivery partners, EPC contractors and specialist suppliers.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements and industry-specific challenges are understood and embedded into commercial strategies from the outset.

Downstream - Contract Execution, Performance & Close-Out

  • Manage contractual obligations across the project lifecycle, ensuring delivery partners meet performance, program and financial targets.
  • Work closely with Project Controls to monitor cost, schedule and performance, compiling dashboards and KPI reporting for executive and SteerCo visibility.
  • Oversee project legal functions, ensuring contracts remain commercially and legally aligned, and resolve disputes and claims in collaboration with the legal team.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly project status reports and commercial performance updates to the Project Director, Commercial Director and Executive Committee.
  • Manage and control project budgets within approved guidelines, ensuring commercial responsiveness across all delivery activities.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead a team of Contract Managers and Contract Administrators.
  • Build commercial capability across the wider project team through coaching, mentoring and the development of training programs.
  • Drive a high-performance, continuous improvement culture within the commercial function.

What You Bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business, Law, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Proven track record leading commercial and contract management on infrastructure projects or programs valued at $500M+ - ideally across energy, transmission, renewables, transport or heavy civil sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience across both upstream (procurement strategy, contract development, negotiation) and downstream (contract administration, claims, variations, close-out) phases of project delivery.
  • Experience working in regional and remote project environments.
  • Strong capability managing EPC, alliance, design-and-construct or other complex delivery models.
  • Proven leadership in managing Financial, Procurement and Contract Management teams.
  • Excellent influencing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills at senior levels.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving ability with strong commercial acumen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distil complex commercial issues into clear executive-level messaging.
