About This Position
SunCommon's Solar Installers work as part of a crew to ensure a joyful customer experience by building quality projects in a safe and efficient manner.
Safety - for our team, our customers, and their property - is our primary priority. The Solar Installer is expected to follow all safety protocols and keep up with advancements in PV and other relevant technologies.
The position requires a person who is flexible, eager to learn, and a skilled communicator. The Solar Installer will spend the majority of their time working on-site with our customers; significant driving across the state is part of the job. A dedication to taking the best possible care of our customers and colleagues is essential.
Essential Job Functions
The Solar Installer will:
- Install photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with codes and standards using drawings, schematics, and instructions.
- Accurately layout and install solar racking systems per design on ground and roof mounted systems.
- Mount and wire PV Modules per specified design.
- Install required labels on solar system components and hardware.
- Work collaboratively with an installation team on roof- and ground-mounted PV systems.
- Support SunCommon's Culture. Actively contribute to a positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable team environment. We need to love what we do, work well with our teammates, and appreciate our customers in order to achieve and deliver success.
Job Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will have:

- Experience in construction, electrical and/or solar industry.
- Ability to troubleshoot, think on their feet, and be flexible.
- Experience running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment
- Efficient and Effective. Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Safety Focus. Must be committed to safe working practices, knowledge of OSHA safety standards preferred.
- Team Player. Experience developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.

- Tenacity. The candidate must gain great satisfaction from a job well done and 100% complete.
- Adaptability. Thrives in an ever-changing environment, and meets tight deadlines.
- Computer Proficiency. Comfort with Microsoft Office suite, Google, Salesforce, and data management. Maintain accurate and timely records in Salesforce, Google Calendars and other systems.

- Climbing ladders and traversing roof tops

- Material handling
- Moving modules, rail, tools and other equipment off of trailers/trucks and to install locations
- Affects the majority of muscle and joint groups from shoulders to ankles and hands.
- Getting materials to the roof via hoisting with rope, manual lifts or passing by hand.
- Affects shoulders, arms and back.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs, bend, twist, kneel, squat, and climb ladders.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, both inside and outside.
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
