Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical Engineering team at RWE offshore wind. As part of this role, you will be working within a focused, highly-skilled team of geotechnical engineers who bring extensive experience across various fields of geotechnical engineering. Our team is globally distributed across RWE offices in locations in Japan, Germany, the UK, and Denmark so internally travel is required. This global presence ensures diverse perspectives and knowledge-sharing across the organization.
About the role
- You will be tasked with supporting, developing and continually improving offshore geotechnical and installation data acquisition, interpretation and reporting
- Preparation of specifications, technical tender assessment and acquired data collation and review, ensuring our surveys deliver high levels of quality data to optimise engineering solutions
- The role is also involved in construction project to work with as built data for both foundations and cable installations and performing inverse analysis and observational engineering
- Perform quality control (QC) of large, diverse geotechnical datasets
- Manage projects efficiently, ensuring on-time completion and delivery
- Utilize and interpret geotechnical in-situ and lab test data effectively
- Support research and development (R&D) activities, contributing to the development of in-house geotechnical tools and their integration with structural and installation team teams
- Being heavily involved in the bid data analysis and implementing ML or AI models
- Being heavily involved in the pile driving motoring, data management, analysis, signal matching and back calculation of the driving logs and data
Job requirements and experience
- Hold an MSc (or equivalent) in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a significant geotechnical focus, or a related geoscience discipline. Possess Chartered status or equivalent or be working towards this
- You will have offshore geotechnical experience and be experienced in supporting all aspects of an offshore windfarm including HDDs, cables and foundations design and installation
- You will have the ability to communicate findings to management, external stakeholders and internal packages and develop project geo risk registers
- Experience of working with integration of data sets and a familiarity of working with the international standards and ASTM requirements
- Skilled in the advanced Geotechnical statistical models like Bayesian frameworks or more advanced framework of machine learning and AI
- Experience is seismic geotechnical engineering, PSHA, SSRA and liquefaction assessment
- Experience in design and installation of the gravity-based foundation for offshore wind turbine
- Skills in scripting and programming and be proficient with geotechnical software tools
- Experience in the pile monitoring systems and signal matching
- Demonstrated history of developing innovative approaches in geotechnical engineering topics
- Have a thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation as it applies to geotechnical work
Advantageous, but not essential
- Familiarity with SQL datasets
- Experience in cloud-based solutions
Candidates must already hold the legal right to work in the UK or Denmark
