Job Description
Are you a skilled and diligent patent attorney with a curious mindset? Are you motivated by being a key advisor to stakeholders guiding critical decisions? Join us in this value-bringing role and become a part of a big team of colleagues in an international company transforming the market.
The patents team is part of Group legal in Vestas Legal, Risk & Compliance and provides specialist support across the organization. As our patent attorney in Vestas´ patents team you will be a trusted, key advisor on intellectual property and strategic decision making where you can shape critical choices and work closely with stakeholders and colleagues across Vestas. You will be empowered to provide commercial, value-creating solutions to complex challenges within the fast-growing renewable industry which allows Vestas to maintain its leading position as well as support in capturing the full value of Vestas' investments in technology development and mitigating risks. You will be part of a highly collaborative and skilled legal and patents team with a global outlook and impact.
Responsibilities
Your tasks and responsibilities will be diverse and cover all aspects of IPR in a global technology leader, including:
- Harvesting and assessing ideas
- Drafting patent applications and instructing external agents
- Patent prosecution and portfolio management, including drafting responses to office actions
- Handling patent oppositions and supporting potential litigation
- Performing freedom to operate work and patent landscaping, including gradually taking over responsibility for Vestas' third-party filing monitoring program
- Supporting development project and collaborations with internal and external partners
- Conducting training for stakeholders
Qualifications
To deliver in this role, we would expect that you bring the following experience:
- Educational background from e.g. engineering, physics, or materials science
- Qualified European Patent Attorney or in the process of qualifying (for the right candidate it could be possible to complete the training as part of the position)
- At least 3-5 years' experience in a similar position
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
