What They Do

Nordex focuses exclusively on onshore wind turbines in the 4 to 6 MW+ class. The company develops, manufactures, installs, and maintains these turbines through integrated processes that include design, precision engineering, rotor blade and tower production, logistics, turnkey installation, and complete lifecycle maintenance (Source: windindustry-in-germany.com). The core platform Delta4000, introduced in 2017 with the N149/4.X, offers flexible power ratings (4-6 MW) and rotor diameters of up to 175 meters. This platform is optimized for various wind conditions and extreme climates (Source: nordex-online.com). The products cater to various customer segments, including utilities, independent power producers, and community wind projects, providing tailored solutions for site-restricted or grid-limited locations with lifespans of up to 35 years.

Projects & Track Record

In Germany, Nordex has commissioned 8,653 MW of onshore wind power plants, with 4,946 MW under construction, including the first wind farm in Hamburg featuring N27/150 turbines that have been operational for over 32 years (Source: nordex-online.com). A prototype of the N175/6.X on a 179 m high hybrid tower in Santow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is in pre-series, with installation scheduled for September 2025 and commissioning between October 2025 and January 2026 (Source: nordex-online.com). Globally, Nordex supplies over 52 GW of installed turbines in 85% of markets outside China, with about 1 GW in Canada, including the N163/5.X, N163/6.X, and N175/6.X cold climate models (Source: windindustry-in-germany.com). Key customers include Bürgerwind Hollich GmbH & Co. KG and Energieversorgung Mittelrhein (evm), who engage in long-term partnerships for turnkey projects and maintenance.

Recent Developments

In the past two years, Nordex secured significant contracts in Germany, including 107 MW repowering in North Rhine-Westphalia for Bürgerwind Hollich with 12 N163/6.X on 164 m high hybrid towers (Source: renewable-energy-industry.com). Additional contracts include 21 MW from BMR energy solutions for the "Heinz" site and 77 MW for the Schneifelhöhe wind farm (Source: renewable-energy-industry.com). Milestones include the commissioning of 2,202.2 MW in Germany in the first half of 2025 and the launch of series production of hybrid towers in April 2025 (Source: nordex-online.com).
