Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Cyber Strategy and Transformation to shape and deliver the next phase of our cybersecurity journey. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity to define and execute a long-term strategy that supports the organisation's transition to Net Zero, enables safe digital innovation, and addresses the growing convergence of IT and operational technology environments.

Reporting directly to the CISO, you will lead enterprise-wide transformation initiatives designed to elevate cyber maturity, ensure compliance with UK NIS regulations, and manage risk across critical national infrastructure. This role moves beyond traditional security leadership, focusing on embedding resilience at the heart of the business and positioning cybersecurity as a proactive enabler of growth, agility, and innovation.

What You'll Be Doing

You will take ownership of a multi-year cybersecurity strategy and roadmap, ensuring strong alignment with broader business objectives. With responsibility for shaping investment cases and prioritising spend, you will influence key decisions at the highest levels, designing a future-ready operating model that defines governance, capabilities, and structure for a modern energy organisation.

A core aspect of the role is leading complex transformation programmes that drive capability uplift across the organisation. You will guide senior stakeholders on the secure adoption of emerging technologies, including AI, while maintaining a secure-by-design approach. Your expertise will be critical in addressing the risks associated with IT/OT convergence and in conducting regular maturity assessments against recognised frameworks such as NCSC CAF and NIST CSF to continuously improve security posture.

Beyond technology, this role plays a central part in cultural transformation. You will embed cybersecurity awareness across the organisation, ensuring it becomes a shared responsibility at every level. Working closely with the People function, you will help define and deliver a cyber skills strategy that builds the capabilities required to execute the wider vision.

You will lead a team providing expert guidance across all business units, ensuring regulatory compliance and consistent mitigation of cyber risk. Collaboration will extend globally, working closely with the Global CISO and wider cybersecurity leadership to align strategies, share best practices, and drive cohesion across international operations.

This position offers significant scope and impact, including oversight of a substantial budget, management of specialist third-party providers, and responsibility for defining and delivering a UK-wide cybersecurity strategy. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, government bodies, and industry stakeholders, building strong relationships across a complex and evolving landscape.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for a proven cyber leader with deep technical expertise, strong knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks, and a track record of delivering strategy within organisations of similar scale and complexity. You will be comfortable operating at C-suite level, with the ability to translate complex technical challenges into clear business outcomes. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence across diverse stakeholder groups will be essential.

This is a rare opportunity to take on a high-impact role at the forefront of cyber strategy, helping to shape a resilient, future-ready organisation in a rapidly changing energy and technology landscape.

What's in it for you

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we'll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
