Job Description

Fuse Energy is a forward-thinking renewable energy startup on a mission to deliver a terawatt of renewable energy - fast. We're combining first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to build a radically better energy system. We raised $170M from top-tier investors including Multicoin, Balderton, Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, Ribbit, Box Group and strategic angels like Nico Rosberg, the Co-Founder of Solana and GPs behind Meta, Revolut, Spotify, Uber and more.

We're creating a fully integrated energy company: from developing solar, wind and hydrogen projects to real-time power trading and distributed energy installations. By selling directly to consumers, we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass on savings to customers.

But we're not stopping there. We're also building the Energy Network: a decentralised platform of smart devices that rewards users in Energy Dollars for electrifying their homes, shifting usage to off-peak hours, and helping balance the grid. This network strengthens grid stability - a critical foundation for scaling AI data centers and other energy-intensive industries.

As we continue to develop cutting-edge technologies and sustainable energy solutions, we are looking to hire a versatile Electronics Design Engineer to help us develop the core electronics behind our plug-and-play solar products. This role focuses on designing robust, scalable electrical systems that enable safe, efficient, and reliable renewable energy hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end electrical development, including requirements definition, specification, design execution, simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout, DFM iteration, board bring-up, system integration, and validation
  • Design and develop electronics for renewable energy systems, including power conversion, sensing, control, and communications functions
  • Collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, controls, PCB layout, program management, validation, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-performance hardware
  • Debug hardware issues and system-level interactions in a fast-moving, multidisciplinary development environment
  • Produce clear and thorough technical documentation, including design requirements, calculations, test plans, validation results, and design reviews
  • Support prototype builds, industrialization, supplier engagement, and production ramp activities
  • Rapidly iterate designs as requirements evolve and product features mature over time

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of power electronics and circuit design, including dc/dc converters, inverters, battery-powered systems, power switching devices, gate drivers, magnetics, and loss modeling/calculation
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design, including microcontrollers, signal conditioning, common communications interfaces, component selection, and thermal/power dissipation considerations
  • Experience with PCB design and layout for mixed power and signal systems, including minimizing parasitics and designing for EMI/EMC performance
  • Experience with circuit board design tools, ideally Altium Designer
  • Proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, signal generators, LCR meters, and power analyzers
  • Experience with hardware bring-up, validation, debugging, and root-cause analysis
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as LTspice, PLECS, or similar
  • Basic scripting or programming ability, ideally in Python or MATLAB
  • Basic knowledge of embedded systems, PWM, and control concepts for power conversion
  • Experience supporting products through manufacturing and high-volume production is a plus
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and an equity sign-on bonus
  • Biannual bonus scheme
  • Fully expensed tech to match your needs
  • Paid annual leave
  • Breakfast and dinner allowance for office based employees
