Company Overview

Dandelion Energy

Mount Kisco, NY, United States

2017

Approximately 160 employees (source: nysenate.gov). No public revenue figures available post-2023, but revenue more than doubled year-over-year in earlier periods, supported by a $40 million Series C funding closed on September 24, 2024 (source: unreasonablegroup.com).

What They Do

Dandelion Energy focuses exclusively on geothermal heating and cooling technology for residential HVAC systems. The company designs and installs turnkey ground-source heat pump systems that utilize vertical ground loops drilled between 200 and 500 feet deep. These systems circulate a water-propylene glycol mixture to harvest stable earth temperatures, which are then connected to proprietary heat pumps like the Dandelion Geo. This model has been verified by AHRI to have a heating capacity of up to 63,000 Btu/hr and a heating efficiency of 5.2 COP, outperforming competitors significantly (source: dandelionenergy.com). Dandelion's products include the Dandelion Geo for ducted homes and a newly launched multi-split system for ductless setups, catering to a variety of residential needs.

The company targets Northeast homeowners, builders, and multifamily developers, particularly in cold climates where their systems can reduce energy use by 60% on peak cold days and cut heating bills by over 50%. Dandelion positions itself as a leader in the U.S. for residential ground loops installed, leveraging proprietary innovations that enable double the efficiency of air-source heat pumps and quadruple that of traditional furnaces (source: energytransitionventures.com). Their services encompass full design-build capabilities for various building types, including single-family homes, multifamily units, and commercial properties.

Projects & Track Record

Dandelion Energy has successfully installed thousands of geothermal heat pumps across the Northeast since its inception. The company began operations in New York, partnering with Aztech Geothermal to install its first systems post-launch in 2017. It has since expanded its reach to Connecticut in September 2020 and Massachusetts in 2022, as well as Long Island's Nassau and Suffolk Counties in February 2022, where they established a 2,000 sq ft facility in Bay Shore. As of April 2, 2025, Dandelion has integrated systems into 1,500 homes in Colorado, marking a significant milestone in their expansion efforts (source: unreasonablegroup.com). While specific project capacities are not publicly detailed, the company’s operations span multiple states, including New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, with plans for further leasing in incentive-rich states like Maryland and New Jersey.

Recent Developments

In the last two years, Dandelion Energy has made significant strides in funding and product development. The company closed a $40 million Series C funding round on September 24, 2024, aimed at fueling its nationwide geothermal expansion (source: unreasonablegroup.com). They launched the Dandelion Geo, touted as the world's most efficient geothermal heat pump, on September 17, 2024, with specifications verified by AHRI (source: energytransitionventures.com). Additionally, the company announced a multi-split ductless system on May 23, 2023, and unveiled the first residential geothermal leasing program on October 22, 2025, targeting builders in 16 states (source: dandelionenergy.com). Dandelion has also been active in advocating for geothermal incentives in New York, supporting legislative efforts to promote renewable energy solutions.

Working There

Dandelion Energy offers a variety of roles across technical installation, engineering, policy, operations, and marketing. The workforce comprises approximately 160 employees, with half of them engaged in hands-on roles such as drillers, plumbers, electricians, and HVAC installers (source: nysenate.gov). The company is actively hiring to support its expansion into new markets, particularly in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Colorado. The culture at Dandelion emphasizes mission-driven innovation, sustainability, and local job creation, reflecting its roots in Google X.
