Job Description

Join our R&D team and help keep our power conversion products performing at their best across their full lifecycle. You will work in a cross-functional environment alongside engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, project management, and external partners to resolve complex technical issues and drive continuous product improvement.

In this role, you will provide advanced technical support for power electronics products used in renewable energy and energy storage applications. You will analyze complex problems, interpret schematics and converter behavior, support commissioning and laboratory testing, and prepare clear technical documentation. Your work directly improves the reliability, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness of products deployed worldwide.

To excel, you bring strong product understanding, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and the analytical mindset needed to read schematics, debug signals, and trace root causes. You communicate clearly across functions, document rigorously, and enjoy turning recurring issues into lasting product improvements.

You will grow by engaging with the full product lifecycle, from prototype and customer tests through certification, commissioning, and field support. You will build deep expertise across power converters, energy storage systems, and validation environments while collaborating with global engineering, quality, and product teams.

How you'll make an impact

  • Act as a technical interface across manufacturing, engineering, procurement, project management, and quality, providing coordination, technical support, and product-related guidance.
  • Analyze, track, and report bugs, defects, and non-conformities identified during validation, testing, commissioning, or field support activities.
  • Drive incident resolution using product documentation, internal expertise, lab analysis, and coordination with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
  • Perform technical analysis of logs, errors, signals, waveforms, and performance metrics, and prepare clear, reusable reports for engineering, quality, and certification activities.
  • Support product optimization and enhancement initiatives to improve converter performance, reliability, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain and continuously improve technical product documentation, troubleshooting guides, test records, and engineering support material.
  • Perform commissioning of power conversion and control systems interfacing with energy storage systems in laboratory environments, and support prototype, customer, and certification tests including result reporting.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, analyze converter topologies, operating modes, and system protection concepts, and collaborate with R&D, validation, quality, and product teams on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in power electronics, product support, validation, testing, or product engineering.
  • Experience in the design of electrical systems and power electronics converters, including control aspects.
  • Strong knowledge of power converters, especially AC/DC and DC/DC converter topologies.
  • Experience in validation of electronic products and/or embedded software, with hands-on use of laboratory test benches, measurement equipment, and engineering test environments.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and understand conversion topologies, protection logic, and operating modes.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, network analyzers, and temperature recorders.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with proven ability to prepare structured technical reports, validation reports, issue summaries, and product support documentation.
