Job Description

Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy in North America, is looking for a Technical Training Lead to join our US team. The Technical Training Lead will collaborate with internal subject matter experts, industry partners and operational leaders to design and deliver practical training for field personnel in areas including solar, BESS, electrical work, medium voltage switching fundamentals, electrical safety, troubleshooting, quality requirements and field execution standards. Training may be delivered through classroom instruction, hands-on labs, e-learning, virtual learning and structured on-the-job training, with applicable participation and qualification records managed through the Learning Management System

What will do you as the Technical Training Lead?

  • Support the coordination, administration, and continuous improvement of technical onboarding and orientation programs to ensure employees receive consistent, role-relevant technical training, resources, and support during onboarding and throughout early role development.
  • Support the administration, organization, and maintenance of technical training content within the Learning Management System (LMS), including training assignments, learning pathways, course materials, training records, reporting, and continuous improvements to support workforce competency and compliance.
  • Lead the development and delivery of technical onboarding and development programs for Renewables US field personnel, with priority focus on solar, BESS, electrical work, medium voltage fundamentals, and electrical safety.
  • Develop and maintain standardized curriculum, instructor guides, practical lab exercises, student materials, competency assessments and supporting training documentation.
  • Deliver classroom, hands-on lab, virtual and structured on-the-job training in coordination with subject matter experts, field leaders and program stakeholders.
  • Partner with Operations, HSE and Quality to align training content with applicable safety requirements, workmanship expectations, electrical safety practices, qualification pathways, field procedures and quality standards.
  • Assess technician competency and practical readiness through written evaluations, hands-on demonstrations and other qualification tools.
  • Coordinate training schedules, student participation, equipment availability, lab readiness and documentation requirements to support effective program delivery
  • Maintain appropriate controls for training equipment use, practical exercises, student access, training records and facility readiness.
  • Support the continued development of scalable training center processes, including standardized delivery methods, course administration, practical assessment controls and instructor readiness
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators for training participation, completion, competency outcomes, qualification progress, skills gaps, program effectiveness and training center utilization.
  • Use assessment results, student feedback, stakeholder input and field performance observations to identify improvements to curriculum and program delivery.
  • Coordinate with Talent Development, Human Resources, Operations leaders and program participants to register, schedule and track participation in assigned training programs.
  • Develop train-the-trainer processes and coach additional instructors or subject matter experts to support consistent delivery of approved training content.
  • Serve as a technical training representative on applicable Talent Development, Operations, Quality Assurance or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Travel as required to deliver hands-on training, observe field application of training, support practical evaluations and coordinate with operational teams across the United States.
  • Perform other related technical training and program development duties as assigned.

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we're looking for

  • Minimum of 5 years of technical field experience related to electrical work, including experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical or related field, solar, BESS, commissioning, operations and maintenance, or related renewable energy field operations.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring technicians, coaching instructors, leading technical initiatives or building repeatable training processes that support program growth.
  • Experience developing structured technical curriculum, lesson plans, practical labs, e-learning content, assessments or blended learning programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical safety and technical standards, including NFPA 70E, OSHA electrical safety requirements, LOTO practices and relevant NEC concepts.
  • Experience evaluating technician competency through written assessments, hands-on demonstrations, field observations or qualification programs.
  • Experience supporting training facility operations, technical lab environments, equipment readiness, scheduling, student coordination or program performance tracking.
  • Certification or formal training in instructional design, adult learning, project management, quality management or continuous improvement is an asset.
  • Experience working with learning management systems, content authoring tools, and MS Office suite
