About the role
The Remote Operations Specialist enables safe and efficient BVLOS drone operations across Raptor Maps' Sentry network. This role is the operational backbone of the Remote Operations Center (ROC) - serving as a Manager on Duty, the Remote Operations Specialist owns the systems, record-keeping, and pilot management processes that allow the ROC to prioritize and deploy resources safely and effectively at scale. The Remote Operations Specialist is critical to maintaining alignment across internal teams and systems while ensuring the ROC provides a consistent, reliable presence for external stakeholders.
The schedule for this role is Wednesday to Sunday with most shifts from 8:30 to 5:30pm Eastern.
What you'll do
- Serve as the ROC Manager on Duty - overseeing day-to-day BVLOS operations including workload prioritization, pilot tasking, and real-time guidance and feedback to active pilots across the Sentry network.
- Ensure the safety and regulatory compliance of all ongoing BVLOS operations, maintaining adherence to FAA requirements and Raptor Maps' operational standards at all times.
- Prioritize and assign inspections based on resource availability, stakeholder requests, and operational urgency - balancing ongoing scheduled operations against time-sensitive requests.
- Develop and maintain ROC systems and infrastructure to reduce manual lift and improve operational visibility.
- Support ROC pilot development by providing real-time guidance, structured feedback, and ongoing training
- Contribute to the development, maintenance, and improvement of ROC SOPs
- Maintain a current FAA Part 107 certificate and stay informed on FAA regulations, BVLOS rulemaking, and trends in unmanned robotic operations relevant to Raptor Maps' fleet.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in drone operations
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing operational priorities in real time with strong situational awareness and sound judgment
- Experience developing or maintaining operational systems, SOPs, or compliance documentation in a safety-critical environment
- Clear, confident communication skills - able to provide real-time guidance to pilots and coordinate across internal teams simultaneously
- Must be located in the contiguous US and authorized to work in the US
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating or managing BVLOS drone missions at scale
- Familiarity with FlightHub 2, or similar autonomous drone mission planning platforms
- Background in solar PV operations or infrastructure inspection
- Familiarity with terrain modeling and low-altitude flight planning
- Prior startup or high-growth environment experience where operational systems were built from an early stage
- Current FAA Part 107, or equivalent foreign, Remote Pilot Certificate thorough working knowledge of FAA regulations and BVLOS operational requirements
- Remote operations center management, or experience in a closely related field
The pay range for this role is:
75,000 - 85,000 USD per year (Remote)
