Job Description

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for organizing and managing local procurement process for supporting local manufacturing as well as the local commercial teams. This role ensures timely acquisition of quality goods and services while maintaining cost efficiency, supplier relationships, and compliance with Global Procurement SOPs and organizational policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Place and manage purchase orders with relevant local material and indirect suppliers, ensuring timely delivery through consistent follow-up and coordination.
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs); analyze bids, conduct bid evaluations, and present recommendations.
  • Support in conducting market research and due diligence to identify and evaluate potential vendors.
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders regarding the status of procurement requests.
  • Convert end-user requests into Procurement Requests and Purchase Orders; ensure timely approvals and follow-ups.
  • Collaborate with warehouse or office staff to plan for inbound deliveries and ensure optimal arrangements.
  • Foster strong communication and maintain professional relationships with suppliers.
  • Work closely with engineering and warehouse teams to procure spare parts, consumables, and production materials as per technical specifications.
  • Maintain accurate and organized procurement documentation and filing systems.
  • Update weekly cash forecasts to inform supplier payment schedules in line with negotiated terms.
  • Support as required in conducting vendor appraisals and analyzing supplier performance for continuous improvement.
  • Regularly push for best Payment terms and costing for the items being procured - either for consumption or for services.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar procurement role, preferably in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Fundamental understanding of procurement best practices, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Should have a good understanding of spreadsheets.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
