Job Description

Become a Cybersecurity Senior Advisor - Red Team Lead at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow.

In this job, you'll:

  • Adversary Emulation Operations: Plan, scope, and execute full-lifecycle Red Team engagements, simulating advanced threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) across enterprise and OT environments.
  • Threat-Informed Attack Simulation: Leverage intelligence on emerging threats and adversary behaviors to design realistic attack scenarios that validate detection, response, and resilience capabilities.
  • Environment & Attack Surface Analysis: Identify and exploit weaknesses across network architectures, identity systems, and external-facing infrastructure, while highlighting visibility gaps, logging deficiencies, and control weaknesses.
  • Detection Validation & Enhancement: Partner with Threat Hunting, Detection Engineering, and SOC teams to validate existing detections, uncover detection gaps, and drive improvements in monitoring and response capabilities.
  • Advanced Tooling & Evasion Techniques: Develop, modify, and employ advanced offensive tooling and techniques to emulate sophisticated adversaries, including evasion of modern security controls (e.g., EDR/XDR).
  • Strategic Reporting & Communication: Deliver high-impact reporting that clearly articulates attack paths, root cause issues, and business risk implications, while providing actionable, prioritized remediation guidance to both technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Program Innovation & Maturity: Partner with Red Team leadership to evolve the program through improved methodologies, automation, and integration with purple team initiatives, ensuring scalability and long-term effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Leads cyber security project delivery by ensuring the cyber security team delivers on success criteria, addresses project issues and risks, and builds commitment with delivery team and internal or external partners.
  • Designs, implements and maintains a secure posture and baseline across all components of the organization on-premises and cloud IT environments, employing recognized security engineering practices and supporting secure build processes.
  • Develops, maintains, and delivers secure system profiles, and maintains an overall view of compliance.
  • Collaborates with the IT and Quality teams to assess, remediate, and prevent information technology risks. Drives system auditing, vulnerability risk assessments, assured file transfers, hardware and software configuration management, data integrity containments and investigations on internal affairs related security violations and incidents.
  • Ensures that new and existing security applications and systems are successfully integrated during implementations, updates, and patching to maintain or increase our ability to detect and prevent security exploits.
  • Collaborates with external managed security solution provider and analysts to enhance security solutions to reduce malicious and suspicious activity based on security data analysis, review of the current threat landscape, and assessment of security tickets.
  • Works with the infrastructure team and security architect to analyze security threats and recommend technical infrastructure and architecture changes to address gaps and reduce risk.
  • Shapes procedures and methods for auditing and addressing risk and non-compliance to information security standards.
  • Fosters strong relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders to understand and map out business priorities and how security engagement can be effectively managed to deliver secure design solutions.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in information technology, information security and/or cybersecurity. US Citizenship Required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating as a senior Red Team leader or principal operator within complex enterprise environments, with demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders across Cybersecurity, IT, and OT organizations
  • Experience conducting full-lifecycle Red Team operations, including reconnaissance, initial access, privilege escalation, lateral movement, and data exfiltration using advanced threat actor TTPs.
  • Experience or familiarity with Red Team operations in OT/ICS environments, including understanding of safety and reliability constraints.
  • Demonstrated capability in developing or modifying custom tools, leveraging scripting/programming (e.g., PowerShell, C#, Go), and implementing advanced evasion techniques.
  • Experience leveraging automation, scripting, and emerging technologies (including AI/ML) to scale Red Team operations and improve efficiency.
  • Highly regarded credentials such as OSCE3 (OSEP, OSWE, OSED), CRTO, CRTE, or OT-specific certifications (e.g., SANS GRID, GCIP).
  • Five or more years in offensive security, red teaming, penetration testing, and vulnerability research.

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.???
