Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the iconic Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme, gas and diesel electricity generating plants, and contracted wind and solar energy in the National Electricity Market. We also provide electricity and gas to over 1.5 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.

Snowy 2.0, currently under construction, is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

About the position

Snowy Hydro is looking for a highly experienced and driven Project Manager - Plant & Equipment to play a pivotal role in the delivery and oversight of Snowy 2.0

In this critical leadership position, you will oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all Plant and Equipment. You will take a hands-on approach to managing operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and strict safety protocols are met, while coordinating seamlessly between contractors, construction, safety, and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Plant & Equipment Management: Oversee daily operations and maintenance, ensuring effective use of resources. Coordinate the scheduling of all Plant and Equipment for efficient use, including shift management and spare parts availability.
• Team Leadership & Coordination: Monitor operations to ensure high levels of competence, safety awareness, and performance. Foster strong collaboration between major work crews, engineering teams, subcontractors, and other departments to maintain a smooth workflow.
• Safety & Compliance: Champion a strong safety culture. Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments, and work to resolve operational challenges and safety concerns in real-time.
• Maintenance & Performance: Ensure regular maintenance, inspections, and servicing to minimize downtime. Track and report on performance, identifying areas for improvement and developing preventive maintenance schedules.
• Budget & Resources: Monitor the plant and equipment budget, including resource allocation and material usage, while identifying cost-effective solutions to improve efficiency.
• Reporting: Prepare and submit regular, accurate reports on plant and equipment availability, challenges, and achievements to senior leadership

About the location

While this role is located at our Head Office in Cooma, NSW, it will include regular overnight stays between our site locations, located in the Snowy Mountains. This role will be working off a standard Monday to Friday work week, with both relocation or FIFO options available for the right candidate.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a proven leader with extensive experience in high-pressure, large-scale infrastructure environments. You will possess:

• Education: A degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Geotechnical, or a related field. (Advanced certifications in tunneling operations or TBM-specific training is highly highly regarded).
• Experience: An extensive background in TBMs, tunneling, mining or hydropower operations, with experience in a managerial or leadership role overseeing plant and equipment operations and maintenance.
• Industry Knowledge: Proven experience with large-scale infrastructure or tunneling projects, preferably in urban or high-risk environments. You must have a strong understanding of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) technology, tunneling processes, and construction safety standards.
• Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong technical knowledge, and the interpersonal skills necessary to motivate diverse teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
