What They Do
Ore Energy B.V. develops advanced long-duration energy storage solutions based on iron-air battery technology, capable of storing electricity for up to 100 hours to balance the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources like wind and solar (source: workingreen.jobs). This technology uses abundant, recyclable, and non-flammable materials such as iron, water, and air, resulting in modular, scalable, and cost-effective batteries that are safe and environmentally friendly (source: oreenergy.com). The batteries are designed to support grid reliability during multi-day periods of low energy generation and focus on applications within renewable energy integration, with a strong emphasis on real-world deployment for a fully decarbonized grid (source: plugandplaytechcenter.com). What sets Ore Energy apart is its low cost compared to existing battery technologies, the use of the Earth's most abundant raw materials, and a multidisciplinary approach combining electrochemical expertise with practical engineering for electrolyte, anode development, and electrocatalyst improvements (source: directenergypartners.com).
Projects & Track Record
In 2025, Ore Energy connected the world’s first iron-air battery to the electricity grid in Delft, Netherlands, demonstrating the integration of multi-day storage in modern energy systems (source: workingreen.jobs). The company plans to connect its first batteries to the grid in 2025, with large-scale production scheduled for 2027, contributing to the goal of fully decarbonizing the electricity grid by 2030 (source: oreenergy.com). Ore Energy maintains a partnership with Yes!Delft Labs, highlighting close ties with the innovative startup and research community in the Netherlands (source: agentosaurus.com). As a spin-off from TU Delft, the company focuses on the practical application of iron-air batteries to increase renewable energy availability and contribute to a sustainable energy future (source: forward.one).
Recent Developments
In May 2024, Ore Energy emerged from stealth mode and gained media attention in outlets such as TechCrunch and Het Financieele Dagblad for its groundbreaking innovations in long-duration batteries (source: agentosaurus.com). In 2025, the company reached a major milestone by connecting the world’s first iron-air battery to the grid in Delft, demonstrating its technology in an operational environment (source: directenergypartners.com).
Working There
Ore Energy recruits professionals for various roles within Factory Engineering, including senior GDE Materials and Processes Engineers focused on electrode development for metal-air systems, and Industrial Architects experienced in industrial facilities and BIM software such as Autodesk Revit (source: workingreen.jobs). There are also openings for Process Engineers, Program Managers, Industrial Engineers, and specialists in Finance & Accounting and Energy Systems Modeling, all based in Amsterdam (source: oreenergy.com). The company culture is characterized by strong collaboration within a diverse team of highly educated experts with deep knowledge of battery technology, operational management, and financial strategy in the energy sector, focused on accelerating technological innovation and agile growth (source: oreenergy.com). With a team of about 20 employees, Ore Energy offers opportunities to make an impact on fundamental grid technologies and contribute to a sustainable energy future (source: ore-energy.jobs.personio.com).

Job Description
Ore Energy is on a mission to fundamentally expand the amount of energy society can reliably use, helping move civilization toward a more abundant energy future. We are doing this by developing long-duration, utility-scale iron-air batteries that provide safe, low-cost, multi-day energy storage for electricity grids. Our technology is designed to enable renewable power to become a dependable source of energy at scale, supporting the transition to a cleaner, more resilient and more electrified world.
Ore Energy has built significant momentum toward commercial deployment. The company has raised significant investment from leading European investors, demonstrated its technology under real-world utility conditions, and is now moving toward large-scale commercial deployments.
Utilities, grid operators and renewable energy developers are at the heart of Ore Energy's commercial strategy. As electricity grids carry more intermittent renewable generation, the need for long-duration storage to balance supply and demand across multiple days is becoming increasingly urgent. Our iron-air batteries are designed to address exactly this challenge. Additionally, they enable further integration of renewables, provide a congestion management tool, act as a critical gas peaker replacement and unlock new revenue streams through energy trading and ancillary services markets.
