Job Description
Hitachi Energy is seeking an Engineering Quality Specialist to support the Business Unit Engineering Quality function in strengthening engineering excellence through effective quality governance, compliance management, performance monitoring, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement. The role is responsible for promoting standardized quality practices, ensuring adherence to quality requirements, driving preventive quality initiatives, and supporting the delivery of high-quality engineering outcomes that enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction across global engineering organizations.
How you'll make an impact
- Engineering Quality Governance & Compliance: Ensures adherence to Engineering Quality standards, processes, and QMS requirements across the Business Unit by monitoring compliance, supporting audits and assessments, and driving standardization of engineering quality practices.
- Quality Performance Management: Monitors and analyzes Engineering Quality KPIs, including Quality Notifications (QN), Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), test failures, and non-conformance trends, while providing regular reports and recommendations to support quality improvement initiatives. Maintains the quality, accuracy, and integrity of Engineering Quality dashboards and reports by ensuring timely data updates, continuous enhancement of reporting tools, effective data governance, and reliable analytics to support informed decision-making across the organization.
- Industry Standards Compliance & Governance: Responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable industry standards by ensuring timely review and assessment of standards, monitoring revisions and updates, communicating changes through a structured governance process, coordinating stakeholder actions, and driving consistent implementation of global standards management practices across the organization.
- Engineering Documentation & QMS Management: Maintains Engineering Quality documentation and supports the creation, revision, deployment, and control of procedures, standards, work instructions, and records within ETQ and other quality management systems.
- Lessons Learned & Non-Conformance Management: Coordinates the Lessons Learned process and tracks recurring quality issues, ensuring that key learnings, corrective actions, and preventive measures are effectively captured, shared, and implemented across engineering teams.
- Engineering Risk Prevention (DFMEA/APQP Support) : Supports the deployment of DFMEA and APQP methodologies by facilitating risk identification, promoting preventive quality practices, incorporating lessons learned into risk assessments, and supporting the implementation of Engineering Quality Inspection Checklists (E-QIC).
- Engineering Failure Prevention & RCA Support: Supports the analysis and resolution of engineering-related quality issues, test failures, NCRs, and field concerns through effective tracking, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA monitoring, and implementation of preventive actions.
- Project & Continuous Improvement Management: Coordinates Engineering Quality projects and improvement initiatives by tracking actions in One Plan, monitoring Quality Improvement Plans, and driving continuous improvement based on KPI performance, audit findings, and lessons learned.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Quality Culture: Collaborates within Engineering, Quality, and other stakeholders in the organization to promote quality awareness, process discipline, preventive thinking, and a culture of continuous improvement across the Business Unit.
Your background
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.
- Experience in transformer engineering, manufacturing, product quality, or engineering quality processes is preferred.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), quality compliance processes, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Understanding of DFMEA, APQP, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, and engineering risk management principles.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with experience in quality KPI reporting and dashboard management.
- Experience with Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, SAP, or similar quality and reporting tools is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills in a global organization
