Job Description

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer to be based in Athens, Greece. You'll join our dynamic Enginering team. Your contribution to the energy transition

As our Senior Project Engineer, you'll lead the engineering design and delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects across Greece and Europe. The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete engineering lifecycle of solar PV and related renewable energy projects, from concept development through detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and final handover.

The role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, project engineering leadership, stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and hands-on experience in utility-scale renewable energy projects. The Senior Project Engineer will act as technical focal point, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities, managing internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring engineering deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You can look forward to the following tasks:

Engineering Design & Project Delivery

  • Lead the complete engineering and design of utility-scale solar PV and renewable energy projects across Greece and Europe
  • Develop project design scope, technical specifications and execution plans
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering deliverables, including; Design plans, Electrical single-line diagrams, Detailed engineering drawings, Cable calculations, Technical reports and studies, Grid connection documentation
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with project schedules, contractual obligations, and quality requirements
  • Evaluate and optimize engineering solutions to maximize project performance, efficiency, constructability, and profitability
  • Drive technical decision-making and resolve complex engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate engineering interfaces between development, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams
  • Deliver final engineering documentation and design packages to customers and project stakeholders

Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as engineering focal point throughout project development and execution.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across civil, electrical, mechanical, grid and environmental disciplines.
  • Manage and supervise external engineering consultants, design offices and specialist subcontractors during project execution.
  • Lead technical workshops, design reviews, and coordination meetings with; Clients, Authorities, TSOs and DSOs, Consultants, Contractors, Internal stakeholders
  • Facilitate effective communication between all project stakeholders.
  • Provide technical advisory support to business development, procurement, construction, and operations teams.
  • Lead technical discussions and negotiations regarding project requirements, engineering solutions, and contractual obligations

Technical Governance & Quality Assurance

  • Implement and ensure compliance with company engineering standards, procedures and quality requirements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, grid codes, industry standards and project specifications
  • Review and approve major engineering deliverables produced internally and externally
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery
  • Support technical contract negotiations and claims management activities when required
  • Ensure lessons learned and best engineering practices are incorporated into project execution

Procurement & Tender Support

  • Support business development activities, feasibility studies, and technical due diligence processes
  • Provide technical support during tender preparation and bid evaluations
  • Review and negotiate technical specifications for requests for proposals (RFPs), supplier agreements, and EPC contracts
  • Participate in the evaluation, qualification, and selection of key equipment suppliers and contractors
  • Support procurement teams in technical clarification processes and vendor management

Construction & Commissioning Support

  • Provide technical leadership during construction, testing, commissioning, and project handover phases
  • Conduct regular site visits to verify compliance with approved engineering designs and specifications
  • Support site teams in resolving technical issues and implementing corrective actions
  • Review design changes and assess their technical and commercial impact
  • Support successful energization, commissioning, performance testing, and project completion activities

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline
  • Professional engineering license and signature rights
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in renewable energy projects
  • Proven experience in utility-scale solar PV project engineering and design
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities
  • Experience leading technical discussions and managing engineering interfaces across project phases
  • Strong understanding of project delivery processes and engineering management principles
  • Excellent knowledge of; HV/MV electrical infrastructure, Grid connection requirements, Renewable energy technologies, Utility-scale project design standards
  • Experience managing external engineering consultants and technical subcontractors
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving capabilities
  • Fluent in Greek and English

Advantageous

  • Experience in EPC project environments.
  • Experience working on international projects and within multicultural teams.
  • Commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Experience with utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, IPMA) or equivalent project leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with international grid codes, renewable energy standards, and owner's engineering services.
