Boralex has been providing renewable and affordable energy for over 30 years. The Group, composed of more than 800 employees, operates renewable assets with an installed capacity of over 3 GW and is developing a project portfolio of 6.8 GW in wind, solar, and energy storage.
About the role
Within the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, the analyst will contribute to updating, analyzing and continuously improving Boralex's corporate financial model.
The person will work with FP&A teams and business units to coordinate financial assumptions, consolidate projections and support value creation analyses by asset, region, technology or business segment.
This role is designed for someone who already has strong foundations in Excel and financial modeling and wants to accelerate their development in a strategic corporate environment.
Your main responsibilities
- Corporate financial modeling - update the corporate financial model, integrate operational and financial assumptions, and document key changes.
- Quality control and robustness - perform validations, reconciliations, consistency checks and variance analyses to ensure the reliability of data and calculations.
- Analysis and valuation - prepare sensitivity analyses, scenarios, key indicators and valuation analyses to highlight the main value drivers.
- Collaboration with business units - coordinate the collection of assumptions, clarify variances and support the continuous improvement of financial information quality.
- Financial communication - prepare and explain financial analyses in a clear, concise and structured way, adapting messages to different audiences, including shareholders (Brookfield and La Caisse), Finance leadership and FP&A teams.
- Continuous improvement - help simplify files, standardize controls, improve traceability and reinforce financial modeling best practices.
Profile we are looking for
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, financial engineering or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in financial modeling, business valuation, corporate finance or transaction advisory services. Experience in investment banking, corporate finance advisory or private equity is ideal.
- Strong Excel skills and a clear interest in detailed, well-structured financial models.
- Good understanding of financial statements, discounted cash flows, financial indicators and sensitivity analyses.
- Strong analytical discipline, attention to detail and the ability to critically review your own work.
- Ability to summarize and explain complex financial analyses in a simple, structured way that is adapted to the audience.
- Proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written, to support collaboration with business units and the preparation of corporate deliverables.
Assets
- Experience with DCF, asset valuation, debtor portfolio models.
- Exposure to renewable energy, infrastructure or transaction advisory services.
- CFA, CPA or CBV designation.
- Knowledge of Power BI, Power Query, VBA or Python as a lever for automation and control.
