Approximately 80 employees (estimated) and an estimated revenue of 19.7 million USD in 2023 (source: growjo.com)

What They Do

ACCURE Battery Intelligence focuses on the development of battery storage systems, particularly lithium-ion batteries used in grid-connected energy storage, electric vehicles, and fleets. The company leverages AI, machine learning, and physics-based models to analyze operational data such as voltage, current, and temperature from battery systems (source: accure.net). Their main product is an independent, predictive cloud platform for battery analytics that monitors safety, availability, efficiency, and degradation, providing actionable insights such as early warnings for thermal risks and warranty management (source: accure.net). The platform supports the entire lifecycle of batteries and claims to extend lifespan by 15-25% while achieving a SOC accuracy of 2% (source: accure.net). Target markets include operators of grid-connected battery storage systems worldwide, including energy developers and electric vehicle fleet operators (source: growjo.com).

Projects & Track Record

Notable projects by ACCURE include supporting a 5 MWh grid battery system developed by the founders in 2013, as well as the current provision of over 300 MWh of global battery storage (source: accure.net). Current large-scale projects include monitoring portfolios ranging from 100 MWh to 10 GWh, with annual capacity tests and degradation analyses being conducted (source: accure.net). Key customers and partners include Gore Street Capital, Repsol Renewables North America, and Capgemini Engineering, with the platform providing comprehensive warranty monitoring and operational insights (source: accure.net).

Recent Developments

In the past two years, ACCURE has raised 16 million USD in a Series B funding round to promote growth in Europe, America, and the Asia-Pacific region (source: zoominfo.com). Job Description

At ACCURE, we empower batteries and those who use them. Batteries are a key element of our clean energy and mobility future. ACCURE makes batteries safe, reliable, and sustainable through the power of the cloud. Using our highly scalable monitoring and optimization platform, we turn operational data from large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) into insights our customers act on - safety, performance, lifetime, and commercial value. This is why we are currently looking for a student to work on the following topic in form of a master thesis:

MCP as a Growth Lever for Industrial Software Platforms

Model Context Protocol (MCP) opens a new interface layer between AI assistants and industrial software platforms. The field is young and the patterns are still forming - a good moment to shape them. For a platform provider like us, the question is: where does this create product and market opportunities, and how big are they? This thesis is suitable for students of a business- or tech-related field with a genuine interest in MCP and where it might take an industrial software platform.

Your Role

and YOUR THESIS

You can shape the thesis along one of two lenses - or your own angle:

  • Commercial lens: Architect the value proposition and go-to-market for MCP-enabled platform offerings - who buys it, why, at what price, and through which channel.
  • Technical lens: Build a working MCP prototype on top of our platform, designed against real customer workflows and evaluated for security, latency, and scale.
  • Working with the platform: Get access to our platform, team, and customers, with close supervision and real stakes - your work feeds into live decisions.
  • Customer exposure: Where it helps, engage directly with customers and partners through calls, interviews, and workshops to ground your work in real-world needs.
  • Shaping the future: Help define an emerging interface layer for industrial software, contributing to how AI assistants and platforms work together.

Your Skills

  • Experience: Currently pursuing a master's in a business- or tech-related field - less about the exact degree, more about your interest in MCP.
  • Analytical mindset: Self-directed and structured, curious about the intersection of product and market, able to extract meaningful conclusions.
  • Technical affinity: Interest in AI assistants, software products, and how industrial platforms are used in the field; hands-on prototyping experience is a plus for the technical lens.
  • Working style: You bring initiative, reliability, and strong organizational skills, manage tasks independently, and enjoy taking ownership.
  • Languages: Strong communication skills in English; the thesis is written in English. German is a plus.

Our Offer

  • Real stakes: Your work feeds into live decisions and helps shape product and market direction for an emerging technology.
  • Access and supervision: Close access to platform, team, and customers, with hands-on supervision throughout your thesis.
  • A day in the role: Deep work in the morning, sync with product, engineering, or commercial around midday, and customer or partner exposure in the afternoon where it helps.
  • Never stop learning: Learn all about batteries, industrial software, and MCP from your colleagues.
  • A job that shapes the future and turns our planet greener one battery at a time.
  • Office-based or remote: Join us in our lovely office in Aachen and feel the start-up spirit or work remotely.
  • 8 hours/week: We'd like to employ you with at least 8 hours per week (Minijob).

At ACCURE, we're committed to cultivating an environment that promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion. We believe our unique qualities must be celebrated as they are critical to our innovation. It's essential to us that you bring your authentic self to work every single day, no matter your age, ethnicity, religion, citizenship, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, neurodiversity, or otherwise. Inclusion isn't just an initiative at ACCURE. We strive to embed it not just into our core values but throughout our entire ecosystem.
