What They Do

Eos Energy Enterprises specializes in developing innovative zinc-powered battery energy storage systems (BESS), particularly their proprietary Znyth® aqueous zinc battery technology. This technology is designed for long-duration energy storage, offering discharge durations ranging from 3 to 12 hours, which provides a viable alternative to traditional lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries. The company emphasizes safety, scalability, and efficiency, with a 20-year useful life for its products, all manufactured in the U.S. (source: stockanalysis.com). Their product lineup includes the Z3 battery module, battery management systems for remote monitoring, and comprehensive project management services, catering to utility-scale, microgrid, and commercial applications to address grid complexity and renewable energy intermittency (source: eose.com). Target markets include utilities, independent power producers, and commercial customers, with a focus on integrating renewable energy sources like solar and wind into their systems (source: mapquest.com). Eos differentiates itself through its non-flammable zinc chemistry, positioning against competitors such as ESS Inc. and Form Energy, and aims to enhance grid stability through long-duration storage solutions (source: dcfmodeling.com).

Projects & Track Record

Eos Energy Enterprises has made significant strides in the energy storage sector, with notable projects including the first commercial shipments of its Znyth® technology in 2017, marking a successful transition from research and development to market entry (source: dcfmodeling.com). A key project involved a $20 million order from EnerSmart for a 9MWh installation in El Cajon, California, aimed at enhancing grid stability and scheduled for deployment in Q4 2021 (source: eose.com). Ongoing projects include a commitment to deliver between 90MWh and 180MWh of Znyth®-powered storage across multiple locations in California, reflecting the growing demand for long-duration energy solutions (source: eose.com). The expansion of their Turtle Creek manufacturing facility is crucial for scaling production to meet these demands and support future growth (source: dcfmodeling.com). Key clients include EnerSmart, which focuses on utility-scale projects, and partnerships are being developed to enhance supply chain efficiency and installation speed (source: eose.com).

Recent Developments

In recent years, Eos Energy Enterprises secured its largest order to date, a $20 million contract from EnerSmart for energy storage solutions, underscoring the increasing demand for their technology in California (source: eose.com). The company has also aggressively expanded its manufacturing capabilities at the Turtle Creek facility, transitioning to high-volume production following its public listing in 2020 (source: dcfmodeling.com). While no specific acquisitions or mergers have been reported since the SPAC merger, the EnerSmart deal represents a significant commercial milestone for Eos, highlighting its growth trajectory in the energy storage market (source: eose.com).

Working There

Eos Energy Enterprises offers a diverse range of roles across various departments, including engineering, product management, sales, marketing, operations, finance, and HR. The company actively recruits talent for positions in software development, infrastructure, and storage systems, with a focus on fostering innovation and collaboration within its teams (source: salestools.io). Job Description

This role sits at the intersection of Eos's battery system design and its real-world deployment, closing the loop between how our BESS is engineered and how it is actually built, commissioned, and serviced in the field. The Engineer, Product Serviceability & Field Reliability will translate field failure data, commissioning friction, and O&M feedback into concrete product design inputs - while equipping Field Services and EPC partners with the technical standards, diagnostics, and documentation needed to service Eos systems efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between Product Engineering and Field Services/execution, ensuring design decisions account for constructability, commissioning sequencing, and long-term serviceability.
  • Support Field Quality team lead root cause analysis (RCA) on field-reported hardware/firmware failures and translate findings into design change requests, retrofit specs, or service bulletins.
  • Build and maintain or support SQL-based fleet telemetry monitoring to flag precursor failure signatures across deployed Eos systems, and use Python for diagnostic scripting and trend analysis.
  • Author and maintain technical due diligence standards and field-readiness documentation used by EPC partners, Field Services, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve thermal, mechanical, and power-delivery bottlenecks that impact serviceability, commissioning timelines, or asset reliability.
  • Partner with Commissioning and Field Services teams to reduce time-to-resolution on site issues by improving diagnostic tooling, spare parts logic, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Support RFP and pre-sale technical due diligence by providing serviceability and reliability input on proposed system designs.
  • Contribute to fleet-wide uptime KPIs and report data-driven reliability trends to Deployment leadership.

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years in utility-scale BESS or related power systems, with direct experience bridging OEM/product engineering and EPC/field execution.
  • Demonstrated experience in performance testing, capacity validation, or commissioning of megawatt-scale energy storage systems.
  • Strong root cause analysis background across hardware/firmware failure modes.
  • Proficiency in SQL for fleet telemetry monitoring and Python for diagnostic/data analysis.
  • Experience authoring technical standards or due diligence documentation used cross-functionally.
  • M.S. in Engineering (or equivalent experience); specialization in sustainable energy systems a plus.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity at a growth-stage OEM, translating field-level signal into upstream design action.

Travel

  • Local Travel
  • Overnight/North America: 75%

Working Conditions

  • Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Customer/Partner Locations - Employee may visit customer or partner locations that may be comprised of office, manufacturing floor, laboratory environments and construction sites depending on the location and reason for visit.
