Job Description
Our mission is to rebuild American communities through healthy, affordable homes.
At Zero Homes, we operate on a simple premise: when you make contractors successful, homeowners win. The current home services industry is fragmented, complex, and opaque, which is frustrating for homeowners and exhausting for contractors. We are changing this by building a home upgrade marketplace that enables a simple, central, transparent process for homeowners and contractors to complete projects.
Through our platform we handle design, quoting, procurement, and customer service, allowing our contractor network to focus on what they do best and make them money: delivering projects. For homeowners, this delivers a predictable, high-quality, and transparent experience-transforming home upgrades from a source of anxiety into a seamless experience. Our vision is to create a world where homeowners and contractors in all 50 states can leverage our platform to execute thousands of projects every week within the next 36 months.
We work by a clear set of values:
- Be a "can kid," not a "can't kid": We own our outcomes and go to extraordinary lengths to solve problems.
- Go fast, be clear: Speed is our advantage, and we sweat the details to deliver an extraordinary customer experience.
- Customer & Contractor Obsessed: We have a deep, personal understanding of the work to be done. We stay curious about our contractors' craft and the stories of our homeowners.
- Win, as a team: We are building an iconic business that will reinvent the industry, and will do so together.
If you are ready to build a world-class consumer experience that genuinely rebuilds American communities, come build with us.
About the Role & Your Impact
Zero Homes runs on three relationships: homeowners we electrify, contractors we deliver work to, and channel partners (e.g., utilities, municipalities, program administrators) who we deliver work for.
We're hiring an Insights Manager to be the person who owns the "job to be done" for all three, and turns that understanding into clarity for our team.
Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Business Operations, you'll own end-to-end research on what makes a homeowner trust us and convert, what keeps a contractor productive and happy, what a utility partner needs to renew and expand a program, and where efficiencies can be found across the process. You'll run the studies to highlight frustrations and painpoints, read our operational data to, and hand the rest of the company a clear answer and a recommendation.
What You'll Do
- Own qualitative user research end to end using various tactics: interviews, surveys, focus groups, usability testing, and funnel analysis to drive actionable insights for our team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and across the homeowner lifecycle to pinpoint the emotional friction that costs us conversion and reduces customer satisfaction or reactivation.
- Work with sales & marketing to refine and deepen our customer personas and understanding of different market segments to reflect real differences in user needs, psychological state, motivations, and ultimately our messaging.
- Deeply understand the contractor experience (incl. onboarding, job flow, QA, economics) to surface what keeps our best contractors working with us, what we can do to reduce frustrations, and how we can deliver an 11/10 experience.
- Bring clarity to our enterprise program managers needs when considering a new vendor and what they need to feel confident the relationship is moving forward effectively.
- Be the voice of the homeowner, contractor, and partner across product, marketing, ops, and leadership.
- Manage any external research or data vendors and own research tools & quality.
What You Bring
- 5-8 years in consumer insights, market research, UX research, or a blended analytics/strategy role.
- Fluency across qualitative (interviews, focus groups, usability testing) and quantitative (survey design, segmentation, statistical analysis) methods.
- Deeply curious, enthralled with not knowing, and willing to deep until you clearly understand.
- Comfortable in the data yourself: SQL, a viz tool, and a survey platform.
- A strong storyteller: you turn messy inputs into a clear narrative and a decision leadership can act on.
- Genuine curiosity and empathy for the people behind the numbers, and the judgment to connect insight to commercial and mission outcomes.
- AI-enabled to move fast across any stack.
Nice to Have
- Experience in home services, energy, construction tech, or the trades.
- Exposure to regulated or utility/municipal program environments.
$115,000 - $150,000 a year
- 📈 Equity
- 🩺 Medical, Dental, and Vision
- 🏝️ 4 Weeks PTO + unlimited sick days
- 🏠 Primarily an in-office role, with a flexible schedule
- 🖥️ Workstation stipend
