Job Description
The Construction Manager (CM) is responsible for overseeing all construction aspects of our utility-scale solar projects. The CM establishes the work schedule, manages sub-contractors, assigns the proper crews and trades to a project, ensures that proper tools and materials are available, reviews designs with engineering, and ensures the project is built according to design with safety at the forefront. Our Construction Managers are on-site at the assigned project location and move to the next project when needed; current projects are in VA/SC/NC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sets up initial layout and site infrastructure services to include water, power, internet and office trailers and required facilities.
- Schedules and ensures appropriate staffing for daily construction activities with employees and sub-contractors.
- Coordinates schedules with the construction department, engineering department, and purchasing department.
- Ensures the safety of each employee, vendor, sub-contractor and temporary labor employees.
- Supports the PM and APM for required management coverage.
- Creates and implements daily work plans.
- Ensures construction disciplines are coordinating daily functions to minimize schedule delays.
- Identifies potential employee relations issues.
- Identifies potential schedule changes, workflow and staffing issues.
- Shuts down a construction site when conditions warrant it, such as weather or safety.
- Performs site investigations for potential future construction site locations.
- Recommends and evaluates sub-contractors for use on project.
- Daily monitoring of the construction site to oversee work in progress.
- Acts as the primary on-site leader and manages execution teams, including all subcontractors, on assigned projects.
- Evaluates the contractual scope of work and the impact of client issued bulletins, field directives and / or scheduling changes.
- Manages and develops a viable long-term relationship with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors. Attends job safety, plan of the day, quality, security and progress meetings as required.
- Ensures project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements.
- Aligns individual and team objectives to department and company objectives.
- Manages and supports employee development and growth.
- Provides regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.
- Possesses Civil and Electrical knowledge.
- Manages well in stressful environments.
- Understands the fundamentals of contract requirements, scheduling concepts and exceptions
- Interpretation of state rules and regulations and adherence to environmental requirements (BMP's and SWPPP)
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- High School diploma.
- 10+ years of direct construction management experience in utility work or heavy construction projects.
- OSHA 10 and/or 30 certification preferred.
- Must have a valid current driver license and ability to pass driving requirements
- Able to travel based and located on assigned projects, up to 95% (per diem and rotation schedule offered per policy)
- Management experience with utility scale solar projects desired.
- Experience and understanding of contract requirements, scheduling concepts and exceptions
- Knowledge of state rules and regulations, and environmental requirements (BMP's and SWPPP).
- Civil and Electrical knowledge and experience.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Work is performed in the field and in an office environment in the field. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 20 pounds.
