What They Do
EUFORES, the European Forum for Renewable Energy Sources, is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to promoting renewable energy sources and energy efficiency across the European Union. Founded in February 1995, it has transformed from a nascent network focused on policy advocacy into a vital cross-party parliamentary platform that connects members of the European Parliament and national parliaments from EU member states. This platform facilitates exchanges with EU institutions, industry stakeholders, experts, and NGOs to influence legislation and policy development (source: eufores.org). The organization operates from Renewable Energy House in Brussels, a monument-protected building that opened its offices in 2006 and runs entirely on renewable energy for heating, cooling, and electricity (source: eufores.org). EUFORES focuses on all renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, biomass, hydro, and geothermal, while emphasizing policy frameworks rather than direct technology development or commercialization (source: eufores.org).
Projects & Track Record
While EUFORES does not develop or operate renewable energy projects in the traditional sense, its track record is marked by numerous completed events and initiatives aimed at promoting renewable energy use within EU institutions. Notably, it has organized 25 documented past events, including national parliamentary workshops in Denmark and France, which focused on renewables and energy efficiency (source: eufores.org; eufores.org). Upcoming major activities include the 2025 Inter-Parliamentary Meeting (IPM) scheduled for March 20-21 in Brussels, which will address themes of prosperity and competitiveness in relation to clean industrial deals, featuring speakers from various EU national parliaments and institutions (source: youtube.com). Additionally, an IPM in Copenhagen on October 17-18, 2025, will focus on offshore wind and regional cooperation in the North and Baltic Seas (source: baltasam.org).
Recent Developments
In the past two years, EUFORES has announced significant milestones, including its 25th annual IPM in March 2025, which will feature tandem sessions across political venues and broad stakeholder participation (source: youtube.com). The organization has also updated its membership fees effective May 1, 2025, introducing a scaled structure for industry associations and non-profits, reflecting operational adjustments to better serve its members (source: eufores.org). While no acquisitions or mergers have been documented during this period, EUFORES continues to coordinate EU-funded projects and parliamentary workshops, maintaining its role as a key player in the renewable energy policy landscape (source: eufores.org).
Working There
EUFORES offers a unique working environment focused on parliamentary networking and policy advocacy within the renewable energy sector. Job seekers can find occasional openings likely within its Brussels secretariat, which may include roles in event coordination, policy research, project management, and communications (source: eufores.org). The organization emphasizes a culture of cross-party collaboration and high-level political dialogue, as evidenced by its diverse board representation from all major political groups in the European Parliament (source: eufores.org). Hiring is centralized in Brussels, with no remote positions noted, and the small-team structure suggests a focus on targeted, policy-experienced hires (source: eufores.org).
