Kaluza

Company Overview

Name

Kaluza

Headquarters

London, England, United Kingdom

Founded

2019

Size

Approximately 50 employees (source: linkedin.com). Revenue figures are not publicly disclosed as Kaluza remains privately held without a parent company beyond its OVO origins and key shareholders like AGL and Mitsubishi Corporation through joint ventures.

What They Do

Kaluza is a London-based energy software company that specializes in a real-time SaaS platform designed to optimize energy operations, integrate smart devices, and support decarbonization for utilities worldwide. The company was launched as a spin-out from OVO Energy, which recognized the need for a platform capable of managing smart meter data, EV chargers, solar inverters, and dynamic tariffs to facilitate the sustainable energy transition. Kaluza's technology is built on a cloud-native, modular architecture that leverages AI-driven forecasting to enable dynamic load balancing and renewable integration, making it a pivotal player in the energy sector (source: sustainabletimes.co.uk).

Projects & Track Record

Kaluza has made significant strides in the energy sector, notably powering OVO's acquisition of a large UK incumbent, which allowed it to consolidate tech stacks and become the UK's fourth-largest energy provider. The company manages over six million meters and has successfully delivered over 100 GWh of load optimization through its innovative tariffs. Major ongoing projects include deploying its platform for AGL Energy in Australia, following a substantial $100 million investment and licensing agreement, as well as a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation aimed at enhancing energy solutions for utilities and automakers in Japan. Additionally, Kaluza signed a multi-year global agreement with Engie in September 2025, which will enable real-time intelligence for distributed energy resources across Engie's extensive consumer contracts (source: eurelectric.org).

Recent Developments

In June 2024, Kaluza secured a $100 million investment and licensing deal from AGL Energy, which significantly boosted its valuation to $500 million. This investment is particularly timely, given the current volatility in energy prices and the growing demand for EV and solar solutions. Shortly thereafter, Kaluza launched a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation to expand its operations in Japan, targeting utilities and automakers. In September 2025, the company further solidified its market position by signing a multi-year global agreement with Engie, which followed a rigorous technology evaluation process. This agreement will facilitate the optimization of distributed energy resources across Engie's markets, showcasing Kaluza's leadership in the energy transformation space (source: kaluza.com).

Working There

Kaluza offers a dynamic work environment with roles spanning engineering, product development, commercial/sales, operations, and sustainability. The company is focused on building teams that specialize in various platform modules, including energy optimization, billing, customer care, and data intelligence. Recent leadership additions, such as a Chief Commercial Officer, reflect Kaluza's commitment to expanding its teams in key markets like the UK, Australia, Japan, and the US. The company culture is mission-driven, emphasizing innovation and a shared goal of accelerating the clean energy transition. Kaluza's B Corp certification and commitment to net zero by 2030 further illustrate its dedication to purpose-led operations (source: kaluza.com).
