To reach our goal, we are looking for a Backend Developer to join our Backend Team. At Qwello, you will help to design and implement new backend services (typically in Python or Rust) to support our growing fleet of self-designed/built charging stations being deployed across Europe. You will also work on backend-to-backend systems that connect Qwello's systems to our partners' services. Reliability and craftsmanship are important to you, so you aim to design with automatic testability, resilience, introspection, and observability in mind. Security is important to you. You are an efficient engineer, focused on executing your tasks well and learning quickly. You are a good communicator and a free thinker with an inquisitive mindset and an eye for detail. You are comfortable working in a startup, collaborating in an interdisciplinary team, and willing to contribute, with your skills, experience, and enthusiasm, to help us build a successful business. Your Responsibilities 🚀
- Design and implement new backend services and serverless code in Python and Rust
- Drive the transformation of our system architecture to meet our business needs and scale to our goals
- Participate in team discussions, code reviews, and planning sessions to learn and contribute
- Help maintain and improve the Qwello backend as part of a backend team
- Experience first-hand with architecting & implementing distributed systems
- Practice hands-on off-premise cloud experience. We use AWS, but experience with Azure, Google Cloud, or similar platforms via laC (Terraform) is also great
- Work in close collaboration with our partners to integrate our services with theirs
- Play a hands-on role in helping the team enhance our service as we continue to expand
Your Profile ✨
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 2-3 years of professional experience in software development
- Strong Python programming skills
- Experience with Rust as a development language would be a big plus, and the willingness to learn it a must
- Basic understanding of distributed systems
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, but Azure, Google Cloud, or similar via laC (Terraform), is also great
- A make-it-happen attitude, helping the team to deliver on changing the world from combustion to electric
- Ability to self-organize and lead in an environment of changing priorities; willingness to work on multiple tasks/content switching
- Fluency in English - German language knowledge is a nice-to-have
