What They Do
Ingrid Capacity is an energy technology company specializing in the development and operation of grid flexibility infrastructure, with a core focus on battery energy storage systems and advanced optimization software (source: ingridcapacity.com). Founded in 2022, the company designs and structures innovative energy supply and capacity solutions, including tolling and floor agreements, to support constrained electricity grids (source: ingridcapacity.com). Their proprietary trading and optimization platform enhances grid utilization and stability by managing flexible assets across Europe, targeting system operators, energy users, and power producers in grid-constrained markets (source: notified.com). Ingrid Capacity positions itself as a Nordic leader in energy storage, actively supporting electrification through scalable battery assets and energy contracting structures (source: business-sweden.com).
Projects & Track Record
Ingrid Capacity operates more than 200 MW/MWh of battery energy storage and has approximately 270 MW/340 MWh under construction in Sweden and Finland, with a development pipeline exceeding 6 GW across Europe (source: business-sweden.com). A flagship project is the Nordics’ largest battery energy storage system currently in the design phase in Horsaryd, Sweden, with a planned capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh (source: ingridcapacity.com). Another key milestone was the 2026 opening of a battery storage facility in Rättvik, developed in partnership with SEB Nordic Energy Fund and Locus Energy, aimed at enhancing grid flexibility in western Sweden (source: ingridcapacity.com). The company has also expanded cross-border, including a strategic partnership with French developer Wattmen and a collaboration with Germany’s Energiequelle to develop 200 MW of grid-connected battery systems, where Ingrid manages financing, operation, and optimization (source: windbranche.de).
Recent Developments
In 2026, Ingrid Capacity announced it had doubled its battery storage portfolio, surpassing 1 GWh in capacity, reflecting rapid scaling of its operating and construction assets (source: ingridcapacity.com). The company also formalized its corporate leadership with appointments including Axel Holmberg as CEO and Erik Sellstedt as CFO, signaling maturation of its organizational structure (source: ingridcapacity.com). Strategic partnerships have been a focus, such as the February 2026 alliance with Wattmen to expand in continental Europe and the late 2025 collaboration with Energiequelle in Germany to develop large-scale battery storage projects (source: ingridcapacity.com). These moves support Ingrid’s ambition to broaden its footprint beyond the Nordics into France, Poland, and Germany (source: business-sweden.com).
Working There
Ingrid Capacity offers roles primarily in engineering, grid optimization, energy markets and trading, business development, finance, communications, and project development, reflecting its technical and commercial focus on intelligent grid infrastructure (source: ingridcapacity.com). The company’s culture emphasizes fast growth, European expansion, and specialization in cutting-edge energy storage technologies rather than traditional utility models (source: linkedin.com). Headquartered in central Stockholm, Ingrid Capacity maintains a dynamic environment suited for professionals interested in shaping the future of flexible energy systems across Europe.

Job Description
Ingrid was born out of a simple belief: the energy transition must move faster and work smarter. We're pioneers at the forefront of the global energy transition - pushing boundaries, turning bold ideas into reality, and solving the problems that matter most.
The INtelligent GRID of tomorrow needs to absorb and release more power. We develop, build and operate high-performance batteries - the lungs of modern energy infrastructure - enabling a more flexible and resilient energy supply across Europe. With 500 MW already deployed across the Nordics and rapid expansion into continental Europe, we manage, optimise and trade both our own assets and those of third parties through our sophisticated tech platform, making every battery - and the entire grid - stronger.
About the role
Software and smart solutions are at the core of how we tackle the toughest bottlenecks in the power system. The platform our Ingrid Technology team builds makes real-time trading decisions, balances the grid and optimises assets - running at scale, around the clock, against live energy markets where timing and reliability decide the outcome.
We're looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Platforms team - a group that owns the Cloud, Data, and Applications platforms. You'll go deep in the backend - real-time systems, event-driven services and the infrastructure they run on - with the only limit being your own curiosity and ambition.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership: what you design, you build, ship and run. You'll work close to trading, market intelligence and asset operations. You'll deploy often and see your impact quickly.
What you'll do
- Go deep in one of our key domains. Optimisation & Trade, Delivery & Steering, or the Partner Experience Platform - and grow with it as we scale.
- Design, build and maintain production-grade backend services. In Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLModel/SQLAlchemy, Alembic migrations), with RESTful and event-driven APIs, deployed as containerised micro services in the cloud.
- Build real-time, event-driven systems. Our services react in real time to continuously trading markets, a constant flow of surrounding data, and the physical steering of our assets - you'll design Pub/Sub event flows that stay predictable when messages arrive late, twice or not at all.
- Design and evolve application databases. PostgreSQL, Redis, BigQuery and S3 - schema design, migrations and query optimisation.
- Own the path from commit to production. CI/CD, containerisation, monitoring and observability - with security and auth built in from the start, not as an afterthought.
Your background
- Deep backend experience in Python. Production services with modern tooling - FastAPI or equivalent, type-safe patterns - and you know your way around relational databases.
- Experience with event-driven or distributed systems. You've worked with message queues or event streams - Pub/Sub, Kafka or similar - and know the trade-offs they bring.
- At home in the cloud, ideally GCP. Or another major provider with a curiosity to learn - you don't just deploy services, you keep them monitored, observable and healthy in production.
- Experience with the energy sector is meritable, but not required. We'll get you up to speed on the domain.
- AI-native and genuinely keen on modern AI tooling, using it to sharpen your own workflow and helping colleagues get the most out of theirs.
Your personal skills
In addition to your qualifications we believe that below skills will make you a star in the Ingrid Tech team:
- Solution-oriented with ability to focus on finding practical solutions balancing speed and technical debt effectively.
- Curious and a natural inclination to explore new technologies, methodologies, and approaches, driving continuous improvement; actively seizing opportunities and taking initiative.
- Flexible in fast-paced start-up environment and willingness to test out ideas, fail fast and take on new tasks when needed.
Why join us?
At Ingrid, we're pioneers at the forefront of the global energy transition - pushing boundaries, turning bold ideas into reality, and solving what matters most. Our culture is built on Bold Impact Curious Grit Inspiring Collaboration. We believe a thriving organisation runs on trust, growth, and learning from mistakes - and that wellbeing matters as much as work. From lunch & learns to social activities, we make space to connect, recharge, and thrive together.
Next step
We'll make selections on an ongoing basis and finalise the recruitment as soon as we've found the perfect match. This process will run over summer vacations and we will keep everyone involved updated on our expected timeline.
We look forward to hearing from you!
