You are passionate about the energy transition and motivated by the opportunity to accelerate decarbonisation through physical commodities trading. You combine a strong understanding of biofuels and feedstock markets with a commercial mindset, an entrepreneurial approach and a genuine appetite for building a business.
We are looking for an experienced commodities professional who understands how biofuels markets work from both a physical and commercial perspective.
You are commercially driven, analytical and comfortable making decisions in a fast-moving market. You enjoy being close to the physical market, developing relationships and turning market intelligence into actionable trading strategies.
As Head of Biofuels & Feedstocks, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a key business area within Caely. You will take ownership of developing the company's biofuels and feedstocks strategy, growing the trading book, expanding the network of counterparties and identifying new markets and opportunities.
The ideal candidate is a confident leader who combines market expertise, entrepreneurial thinking and execution ability. You are comfortable operating with autonomy, but thrive in a close-knit team where ideas are challenged and decisions are made quickly.

The Role

As Head of Biofuels & Feedstocks, you will have overall responsibility for developing and growing Caely activities across biofuels and relevant feedstock markets. You will define and execute the commercial strategy for the business, while remaining closely involved in the market and day-to-day trading activity.
You will be responsible for identifying market opportunities, developing supply and offtake relationships, structuring transactions and managing the commercial and risk implications of the trading book.
You will act as a key internal knowledge centre for biofuels and feedstocks, ensuring that market developments, regulatory changes, supply-demand dynamics and pricing trends are translated into clear commercial views and trading decisions.
This is not a purely managerial role. We are looking for someone who wants to build the business, originate opportunities and trade.

The role will consist of, but not be limited to, the following actions:

  • Develop and execute Caely biofuels and feedstocks trading strategy.
  • Build and manage a profitable physical and/or paper trading book across relevant biofuel and feedstock markets.
  • Identify and originate new commercial opportunities across the supply chain.
  • Develop long-term relationships with producers, feedstock suppliers, aggregators, traders, blenders, refiners, airlines, shipping companies and other market participants.
  • Work closely with risk management, operations, finance and compliance to ensure transactions are commercially attractive and operationally executable.

Requirements

In order to be considered for the role, you will ideally meet the following:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in biofuels, feedstocks, physical commodities trading, energy trading, agricultural commodities, renewable fuels or a closely related sector.
  • Demonstrable experience in physical commodity trading, origination or commercial business development.
  • Strong understanding of biofuel and feedstock markets and their underlying supply-demand fundamentals.
  • Strong understanding of commodity pricing, risk management and trading economics.
  • Experience working with physical flows, logistics, storage, transportation and/or supply chains is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of renewable fuel regulations and sustainability frameworks is a significant advantage.

The Offer

  • Work in an inspiring, fast-growing commodity sector
  • Competitive salary with a bonus scheme
  • Collaborative and ambitious culture
  • Get support with a relocation budget
  • Unlimited holidays
  • Join a diverse team with 15+ nationalities
  • Pension scheme
  • Access a fully equipped gym 24/7
  • Weekly bootcamp fitness classes
  • Annual company trip
  • Free electric bikes during the day
  • Weekly padel court

What They Do

Caely Renewables is a private company focused on renewable energy and based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The company specializes in environmental commodities that assist businesses in their decarbonization efforts. Their offerings include biofuels, compliance carbon solutions, energy attribute certificates, voluntary carbon solutions, and renewable gas. This enables them to support companies across various sectors in reducing their carbon footprint and meeting sustainability goals without the need to build their own infrastructure (source: caely.com; caely.com; caely.com; caely.com). Their focus is on providing tailored decarbonization strategies and advisory services, as well as tools like a CO2 calculator to help businesses substantiate their sustainability claims (source: caely.com). Caely Renewables stands out due to its global desk structure and combined advisory and deal expertise, although it competes with larger traders in established carbon markets (source: caely.com; agentosaurus.com).

Projects & Track Record

Caely Renewables primarily acts as a trader and advisor rather than a project developer, meaning there are no specific completed projects with names, locations, or capacities documented. Their track record focuses on facilitating decarbonization for clients through the delivery of environmental commodities, such as voluntary carbon solutions and energy attribute certificates (source: caely.com; agentosaurus.com). The emphasis is on portfolio building and due diligence, but no specific ongoing large projects or MW-scale developments are mentioned (source: caely.com; caely.com). Clients and partners remain unnamed, but the company collaborates with organizations such as Verra and Gold Standard for carbon credits (source: agentosaurus.com; caely.com).

Recent Developments

No significant announcements, contracts won, acquisitions, or funding rounds have been documented in the available sources over the past two years. The company's online presence mainly focuses on static product descriptions without press releases or news items (source: caely.com; agentosaurus.com). Likewise, no awards, certifications, or quantitative milestones such as total facilitated MW or tons of CO2 offsets have been documented (source: caely.com).

Careers

Caely Renewables offers job openings in various departments, including risk & operations, finance, biofuels, biomethane, voluntary carbon, and compliance carbon. This indicates an active recruitment strategy in trading, operations, and regional desks (source: caely.com). Open positions are likely available at all office locations, including Amsterdam, Genoa, Houston, and Stockholm, given the global team structure (source: agentosaurus.com; linkedin.com). The company culture is characterized by a "welcoming and inclusive work environment" with opportunities for continuous learning and growth, as highlighted by a passionate team story and transparency in leadership (source: agentosaurus.com; caely.com). However, no specific benefits packages have been documented in the sources (source: agentosaurus.com).
