We're looking for a Buyer / Supply Chain & Logistics Intern to join our Supply Chain & Manufacturing team in Austin for the Spring 2027 term, January 12 to April 16, 2027. Every P3 module is built from thousands of parts: steel, optics, insulation, valves, motors and power electronics, sourced from suppliers across the U.S. and around the world. You'll help get the right parts to our factory floor on time and at the right cost.

This is a hands-on internship. You'll place real purchase orders, work directly with suppliers and freight carriers, and see the parts you buy become hardware that ships to customer sites.

What you'll do

  • Buy parts. Request quotes, compare suppliers on price, lead time and quality, and place purchase orders for R&D and production materials.
  • Keep orders moving. Track open orders, follow up with suppliers on delivery dates, and flag delays before they hold up a build.
  • Coordinate logistics. Schedule inbound and outbound freight, get carrier quotes, and work with our shipping and receiving team to get material checked in and to the right place.
  • Manage inventory data. Keep part numbers, bills of materials, stock levels and purchase records accurate in our ERP and inventory tools.
  • Find savings. Analyze spend and lead times, and help identify second sources and better pricing for key parts.
  • Improve the process. Build trackers, dashboards and simple automations (including AI tools) that make buying and logistics faster and easier to manage.
  • Own a project. Take on one supply chain problem end to end and present your results to the Supply Chain & Manufacturing leadership team in April.

What you'll bring

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in supply chain management, operations, logistics, industrial engineering, business or a related field.
  • Available to work on site at our Austin, TX facility from January 12 to April 16, 2027, for example as a co-op, academic-credit internship or semester away from classes.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills: lookups, pivot tables and cleaning up messy data.
  • Organized and detail-oriented: you keep track of many open items and follow through on each one.
  • Clear, professional communication by email and phone with suppliers and carriers.
  • Curiosity about how physical products are sourced, built and shipped.

Nice to have

  • Coursework or experience in procurement, purchasing, inventory or logistics.
  • Experience with an ERP or inventory system (e.g. NetSuite, SAP, Odoo or similar).
  • Familiarity with freight, shipping terms (Incoterms) or import and customs basics.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse or hardware environment.
  • Comfort using AI tools, scripts or no-code tools to automate repetitive work.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. About Exowatt

Company Overview

Name

Exowatt, a privately held company

Headquarters

Miami, United States

Founded

2023

Size

Approximately 90 employees in recent years (source: tracxn.com)

What They Do

Exowatt develops modular, transportable power systems specifically designed to meet the demanding energy needs of AI data centers and other high-load customers. Their flagship product, the Exowatt P3, captures solar energy and stores it as high-temperature heat, which is then converted into dispatchable electricity on demand, enabling 24-hour renewable power availability (source: exowatt.com). This technology aims to reduce reliance on conventional grid power by providing a reliable, renewable energy source tailored for AI infrastructure, commercial, government, and off-grid applications (source: exowatt.com). The company emphasizes modularity and dispatchability, targeting frontier land data centers that require rapid access to large amounts of power, positioning itself as a critical enabler for the future of AI and energy-intensive industries (source: wikipedia.org).

Projects & Track Record

As a young company, Exowatt's project portfolio is in the early stages, focusing primarily on deployment planning rather than completed large-scale projects (source: wikipedia.org). The company announced in April 2025 that its $70 million Series A funding would support commercial deployments starting that year (source: exowatt.com). While no public list of completed projects with specific capacities or commissioning dates is available, Exowatt’s focus remains on AI-scale data centers and other large-load customers (source: exowatt.com). The company has attracted significant backing from prominent venture and strategic investors including a16z, Atomic, Felicis, Sam Altman, HSBC Innovation Banking, and others, underscoring confidence in its technology and market potential (source: refreshmiami.com).

Recent Developments

In April 2025, Exowatt closed a $70 million Series A funding round, split evenly between $35 million in equity and $35 million in debt, bringing total funding to $90 million at that time (source: exowatt.com). This round was led by Felicis and included HSBC Innovation Banking among other lending partners, with prior seed investments from a16z, Atomic, and Sam Altman (source: refreshmiami.com). Coverage in 2025 highlighted Exowatt’s emergence from stealth mode, its dedicated focus on AI data-center power solutions, and rapid team growth from approximately 25 employees toward a larger engineering organization based in Miami (source: refreshmiami.com). By 2026, the company had expanded to roughly 90 employees and secured total funding of $105 million across five rounds (source: tracxn.com).

Working There

Exowatt hires across a range of roles focused on hardware engineering, product development, operations, manufacturing, and deployment support, reflecting its identity as a deep-tech hardware startup rather than a software-only company (source: refreshmiami.com). The company’s growth strategy centers on leveraging Miami-based talent, with the primary office located in Miami, Florida (source: exowatt.com). Public materials and case studies highlight a focus on systems development, product storytelling, and deployment-oriented work, indicating a collaborative environment for engineers and startup builders (source: wheelhouse.io). While detailed benefits and role-specific hiring information are not publicly documented, the company’s visible hiring profile suggests opportunities in mechanical and electrical engineering, product management, and operational roles (source: exowatt.com).
